My J-Pouch surgery March 2003 having very little problems following the years of post surgery I am thinking of having another child. I would like feedback of risks, and complications from mothers who have gone thru the J-Pouch and if you would have another child if you could do it again. I am scared to death of the complications, of the unknown and the future issues that may arise. Is a C-Section necessary to reduce complications? I really appreciate your comments.

There is quite a few post here on pregnancy with j-pouch.
I have had 2 successful pregnancies after getting a j-pouch, with very little complication regarding having the pouch. I also had 2 c-sections. C-section were the easiest surgeries I have ever had. I did have some mild discomfort with scar tissue stretching. |

I have three children, am pregnant with my fourth. I had the second post ileostomy surgery and kept my ileostomy for three years. Then had the jpouch and had a baby 2 years after that. Had no problems with the jpouch during pregnancy and delivered all vaginally. I'm pregnant again and am experiencing some pressure in my bum (ok, alot of pressure) and more frequent bms, but it could be due to the nausea and vomitting meds I'm taking (never took with the others). Good luck. By the way, my doctor was on standby to do a c-section, ONLY because he didnt want me to tear my anus because us jpouchers rely so much on sphincter control. When he saw everything was progressing well, he let me go vaginally.
