hi ladies!
i am currently 9 weeks pregnant with my first! i was wondering if those of you that had your babies after you had the jpouch didnt seem to get the baby bump until later on because of the little bit of extra room in the abdomen (because the colon isnt there anymore)
did the bump seem smaller at the end of your pregnancy compared to other women's?
thanks!
jill

I asked my dr this question and he said though we are missing a bit of intestine, it wouldn't make a difference in how you show (and i have less than most since my pouch was removed and I have a perm ileo).

It's more likely because this is your first baby. I didn't really show until well into my 4th month iwth my first, and then just a little, but started showing in the beginning of the third month with my second.

My doc also said there is probably no difference between colon and no-colon in regards to roominess. I'm having my first babe in July and didn't start to show until week 18-19 and only just enough for me to tell. I did have a wee problem tho. My doc said that there was a bit of scar tissue-adhesions and my uterus had a bit of trouble rising out of my pelvis around week 13 or so. It was uncomfortable for a few days until over night it popped up like it snapped a rubberband! Now I'm at 23 weeks and I'm getting bigger everyday. Don't worry, you'll start packing up your "normal" clothes soon enough. Smiler

Well, this is me at 14 weeks! My hubby says I'm growing faster than a tree (not that trees grow quickly)

This is my first...

Hi,

I am 30 weeks pregnant now and still fairly small so everyone says. I am tall and think that might be something to do with it. I too was really impatient to show as other friends did long before me. I didn't really look pregnant till about 24 weeks. Dr and Midwife say this is all fine and the baby is growing well so thats the main thing. Guess we are all different and will show at different times.

Good luck with it.

HI ALL.. i'm currently 25 weeks and a few days.. pregnant with my first.. i guess i started showing a little pooch around 16 weeks.. i started wearing maternity shirts around that time, as my normal shirts were getting a little short.. but once the first person could tell i was getting a bump, there has been no slowing down.. my doc says i have a big boy growing in there.. most people can't believe i'm only 6months along!!! they think i must be at least 8.. i'm guessing it does not matter the lack of intestines.. it just depends on how you carry.. i carried really low, but now i'm more rounded!! you will love your baby bump!! i know i do!!!
best
