I have experienced night sweats ever since I had my J-pouch surgeries in 2004. I was just wondering if this is common among J-pouchers or maybe J-pouch women. I thought for sure it was early menopause. But I am pregnant now so it could not have been that. If anyone has info on this I would love to hear about it.

Night sweats can be normal during pregnancy due to the hormone surges. But if you were having them before pregnancy, you should probably let your dr know. It might be a thyroid issue and that can be serious for pregnancy if not treated. It is also possible you are in perimenopause even though you got pregnant. This is when the body begins the process of menopause, usually at a much younger age, but you don't experience all the symptoms, hence you could still get pregnant.
Plus, menopause is a process, not something that happens over night. There have been many a "Menopause baby" my father being one. My Nana swore she couldn't possible be pregnant because she believed she had already been through the "change" She insisted my Dad was tumor until she was 6 months pregnant!

That is hilarious! I am 32 so maybe what you said could be happening to me. I told my general Doctor & he said it was nothing,, but I will let my OB Dr. know for sure!

I have always had night sweats, but I put it down to chronic pouchitis. It was especially bad in the fist few weeks of pregnancy (i'm 13 weeks) but now it seems to have stopped. I don't even try to understand my body anymore! ha ha... Good luck!

Have you mentioned this to your doctor? It wouldn't hurt to have a him test for thyroid function. I had been experiencing night sweats and hot flashes before all of my surgeries. I thought it was normal for my age. It turned out that I had adredal fatigue and an auto immune disease of the thyroid. I ended up gaining 20lbs by the time my doctor got it all figured out.
