Yes, I'd say it's normal. Your body's had enough to contend with so it's probably put the period on hold till you're better. My period disappeared too. The doctor told me it'd come back when I was ready. And it did. My periods were very light when I flared the worst, and post-surgery they're also lighter than they were before I got UC.

I did not have a period for at least six months after my surgery. The body knows when you are not healthy enough to carry a child to term and will stop ovulation and menses to prevent a pregnancy that could be harmful to you. This also happens in women who overtrain for athetics or lose weight too quickly (body thinks it is a time of famine). Jan

Mine are all messed up too. After surgery I did not have a period for 2 months. Then I had one and stopped again for 2 mor months. This last 5 weeks I have had 2 periods. Both lasted 7 days each. Lucky ME!!

Mine stayed away for about a year! But everything is back on track now, cramps and all  Things will get back to normal after your body heals and adjusts.

messed up periods are a right of passage after surgery. Mine has been extremely irregular, coming and going when it pleases. I decided to go back on BC to try to regulate it again but even that isn't helping. I know it will get better with time.
