I had my beautiful baby girl 6 wks ago via csection! Everything went smoothly, until now.
I had my 6 wk postop OB appt. and looked fine. That day the gurgles started and progressed to major cramping and pain with the loose stools then to fever. When I started vomiting I went to the ER. Got fluids and sent home with percs. 3 days later the cramping is better but the pain is bad, stools there. I'm not sure if the narcotics are helping keep everything tame. I am breastfeeding so I went into immediate denial this is pouchitis since I didn't want to take Cipro. Now I've researched that it can be safe. I'm thinking after a week with no improvement this is likely pouchitis though I've never had it this bad. Anyone else get it right after delivery? I miss the "constipated" pregnancy days! (I also posted on pouchitis) |

I'm in the same boat as you. I had a bout of pouchitis about mid-way through my pregnancy and ended up on prednisone for 6 wks. My doc warned me that it might happen again after the pregnancy, due to the hormones. Sure enough I started noticing some symptoms around 7 wks, but didn't want to admit it for awhile. I got put back on prednisone 4 wks ago (my son is 14 wks old). My doc said that he couldn't put me on anything else really, because I'm breastfeeding. I had to have the j-pouch because I was stuck on prednisone for 3 yrs, so I really am resistant to taking it again. Oh well, what can you do? I hope that you can get your pouchitis cleared up asap! I feel much better, other than the sleep deprivation! Lol.
