Okay, so today I woke up feeling icky because I am fighting a cold. Not a great way to start a day. I decided to stay home and rest instead of working. I also had a follow up appointment in the afternoon with a gynecologist so I was already taking time off work for that anyways. I waited for an hour and a half to get into see this doctor (who I met for the first time because she had a doctor covering for her the first two times I was there). I FINALLY get into see her only to find out none of my rather extensive medical history was passed onto her by the other doctor...or she had not bothered to read my chart...either way it was very annoying. I tell her that I am still experiencing symptoms and not feeling quite right and she tries to placate me "you're immune system is still recovering", "it's normal to feel this way and give it some time." At that point I was so tired from waiting that I did not press the issue of my discomfort. Well, I get home and not 2 hours later I realize what is going on....I'm getting another bartholin gland cyst. I am very frustrated! If she had just taken the time to examine me it would have been caught. Now I have to go back in...but I will not go back to her. I am going to my family doctor to get referred somewhere else. I am super-frustrated because now I have to deal with the cyst until I can be seen by a doctor. I want to make sure it is a cyst and that it wasn't just misdiagnosed the first time.

Sorry to hear all that. Dealing with doctors can by annoying!
Try warm baths for your BG cyst. I had to get one drained, but another one resolved on its own.

Tell your GP that you need to see another gyn URGENTLY. I don't know about what its like in BC but in Ontario you can wait months to see a referral doctor and then they won't do anything to help you out on your first appointment with them. When I first started having UC issues my GP thought it was a liver thing and got me an appointment with a hepatologist WITHIN A WEEK (not the usual 4-5 months) because she thought it was urgent.

Thanks, I was thinking of trying to wait this one out to see if it will go away on it's own, but this morning I woke up hurting Frowner. I don't think it's going anywhere without antibiotics because it feels infected, just like the last one did. I will make an appointment with my family doctor today and hopefully she can get me somewhere this week if she uses that magical "urgent" term on her referral form. Other than that i am feeling really good so I will try to be patient with this.

Do they usually get worse before they get better? It has gone from like pea-sized to at least the size of a quarter. I am in a lot of pain and discomfort Frowner. I am back on antibiotics for a week. My family doctor was not impressed by my appointment with the gynecologist and knows I won't go back there. If the cyst comes back a third time I will go to a different doctor. Hopefully these antiobiotcs will do the trick and the cyst will stay away! I hope they work because I carry the MRSA bacteria so it's possible that I am a little more resistant to antiobiotics in general. Keep your fingers crossed!

I'm surprised that no one wants to drain it for you. That's what my GYN did and I felt better pretty much immediately - no antibiotics required. Would that be an option? Sounds like you need relief!

Yesterday afternoon I went to the ER because I was in so much pain. Even being on the antibiotics the cyst had grwon from being pebble-sized to bigger than a walnut. After after waiting almost 5 hours to see the gynecologist on call he said that it would need to be drained and marsupialized, but because the ER was so busy it will be done today as day surgery. So I am waiting for them to call me to tell me when to go in. At least I got to go home and eat some food and take some pain killers in the meantime. I can't wait to have this thing gone!

Been there! It should feel better immediately. I was told if mine kept coming back I could have a little drain put in. Thankfully I haven't had any more since the first 2.

Hope all goes well...Lori

Hope you got in by now.
Out of curiosity, what does marsupialized mean? There were no kangaroos involved in my draining.

To the best of my knowledge marsupialized means that once they incise and drain it they create a little pouch for it to heal into so that it does not come back again.

I am out, but my surgery got bumped so many times on Friday instead of having surgery at 5pm I ended up getting admitted and then told at 11:30pm it would be on Saturday...so they fed me an awful turkey sandwich, my first food in over 12 hours. Then I ended up having to wait until 3pm on Saturday for an OR to open up for them to do the procedure. I hate BC's health system. It could have been done in a gyn's office but not on a weekend so I had no choice but to wait, plus this way I avoided local anesthetic. They just put me under for about 10 minutes since I already had an IV going to prevent dehydration anyways.

So I did not have a fun weekend but I should be recovered very soon!
