Has anyone with an ileostomy taken fossamax for osteoporosis, and if so, any problems?

I take Actonel. I used to take the once-a-week pill. I recently changed to the two-days-a-month. I haven't had any problems. I assume it dissolves before it gets to the ileostomy (I haven't noticed any ghosts when I empty), but I don't know for sure.

I used to take Actonel and due to insurance not paying any longer I now take Fosomax and have for almost a year. I haven't noticed any problems what-so-ever.

what is fossamax and does it help with?i need with bowel movement during the and having to wear depends.i hate it and suggestions?

Fossamax is an osteoporosis drug that treats and helps prevent bone loss. I have never heard of it helping with bowel frequency although some other drugs do.

For example, Questran (cholestyramine) is a cholesterol medicine that has a side effect of constipation and it is sometimes given to pouchers/ostomy patients to help with frequency.

do you know of any meds that help with joint pain?
