Okay so I think I had decided not to get the gracilis muscle flap surgery to repair my RV fistula.

I saw 3 different surgeons (including my own) for opinions on how to fix the fistula. I got 3 different surgical options.

My surgeon would go up through the vagina and repair it that way. Surgeon#2 suggested gracilis muscle flap surgery and surgeon#3 suggested a transperineum surgery. Hard to explain but I liked her opinion. She happened to be the only female surgeon I saw and she had great woman advice and it was very helpful.

Just instinctively, I'd go for the Girl surgeon...she has a more intimate understanding of what all of this means to you and how you will feel and heal...

the female surgeon knows my surgeon so im gonna see if he can do the same surgery or one of his partners...shes in a different state and ill go there if i have to but we'll see if my guy will do it but i like her option much better too

I had that transperinium surgery a year ago. The dr made incision between rectum and vagina and put a piece of biomesh in. Huge infection was result. It ate up my vaginal septum and I have to have pelvic floor reconstruction. Fyi
