Yes! I am due with my first on Sept 2nd.
So am thinking it may be an August baby if I have a c-sec ?? Ours is a honeymoon bub. I'm really excited - I look pretty big already (for me anyway cause i'm little) What date is yours? |

My due date is Sept 25th but I am sure it will probably be mid Sept. I am already big as well. You know what I think. Since we have half the stomach we use to, we have nothing there to keep our Uterus from hanging out, therefore making us look like we are 5 months already!! Just a thought or wishful thinking!

Hi Whitney, I am so glad your appointment went well. It must have been a relief to see everything was fine. How many weeks are you? I am not due until October but had an ultrasound last week and everything was good. How are you feeling besides the night sweats? I am constantly nauseous and can't wait to get through this part (I forgot how awful I would feel!)
I also wanted to tell you when I was pregnant with my first, I called my OB and set up a consult with my doctor regarding my medical history, so I was able to meet with him before the initial first appointment. Just a thought if you are still anxious about this pregnancy and your pouch. Colleen |

Thanks Colleen!
I am 10 weeks 6 days now. I have the same nauseous problem as you. I will be glad when I get through this as well. It's no fun because you are excited but then sick. Oh well! So when is your due date? & did you go to your doctor already? Whitney |

Hi Whitney,
I will be 8 weeks on Sat. and my due date is October 20, but I will probably schedule my c-section for two weeks before. Hopefully my water won't break like it did with my first! I have my first appointment on Monday, but it's only with the nurse. I think they do another ultrasound at 10 weeks, it's part of some new early screening they are doing here in MA, not sure what the protocol is in other states. Are you going to find out what you are having? I am, and it's already driving me crazy! I am so nosy!! Hope you start feeling better soon! Colleen |

Okay so you are never too nosey on this site!!! No worries! I am gonna find out what I am having because I already have 2 boys & we are gonna have to have 2 kids in one room. If its a girl I will have to put the boys together. Wish we could move but I don't think that is possible at this time. I want a girl ofcourse, but I am so use to boys I really am scared about having a girl to tell you the truth. I have 2 boys, my sister has 2 boys & I babysit 2 extra boys. It's starting to worry me. Oh well as long as the baby is healthy right?
Okay so since I have not had a baby OB visit in almost 6 years they have come up with so many new tests. I am taking the same test as you I am sure. Actually there are 2 test. One is for Down Syndrome which involves a finger ***** & blood taken, then another U/S. Which is fine with me because I get to see the baby again. The reason for the U/S, I read, was to see if there is fluid build up behind the baby's neck. That is why they ask you to drink 32oz of water before your visit & do not go to the bathroom until the U/S is over. I don't know if that will be possible for us J-pouchers as everything goes through us twice as fast as a normal person, but we shall see. The other is for Cystic Fibrosis which I think is done through blood. It's great that they have these test. I called my insurance which is Anthem Healthkeepers & they do cover these tests so thats good. I was kind of worried about that. Okay so you reply now! I am rambling on! Whitney |

Hi girls,
I'm not due in the Fall but have some baby news I thought I'd share. I'm 20 weeks and had my "big" ultrasound on Tuesday. All is good and the dr is 95% sure we are having a girl. I really didn't care one way or the other (we have a two year old son) I'm just so happy to be having any babies, but my MIL is on cloud nine! Colleen, where are you doing your OB visits? Are you in the Boston area? I see Dr Bruce Cohen at the BIDMC, he's a high risk dr and he delivered my son. The down's syndrome ultrasound you girls are having is called the nuchal translucency test and they are measuring the length of the space between the spine and the neck (probably using fluid if you are having to drink water - I didn't have to for mine). The smaller the space, the less chance of down's. The CF test is done by blood, usually along with the spina bifida test, somewhere around 16 weeks or so. We already knew we were negative for CF because of having done IVF, but since it is done with the other test, they are redoing it. I still feel pretty crummy but my dr assures me it is just pregnancy and not the reoccurance of GI issues. Hope he's right and that this will pass in early July when the baby arrives! |

Thanks for the info Jill and congrats on your girl!
My OB is in Concord and he's not high-risk. He delivered my son at Emerson Hospital and everything went smoothly (thankfully, Emerson hasn't had the best reputation lately, but I was born there so that's kind of cool). I live in Leominster, but work in Sudbury so Concord isn't too bad a commute from work. We considered Boston, but it is just too far from where I live (about an hour and 15 min.) Has your pouch been cranky since your pregnancy? Mine was fine with my first until the end so I'm hoping I don't encounter any issues this time around. Do you find this pregnancy has been going the same as your first? I think I am more nervous this time because I know all the things that can go wrong! I just have to try not to think too much. Hope you feel better soon. Whitney, I will keep my fingers crossed for your girl! Colleen |

Colleen, I ahve a perm ileo after failed j-pouch. I've been much more uncomfortable with indigestion and nausea this pregnancy, but last pregnancy I had a near total bowel obstruction and was hospitalized for 3 weeks...so all in all, I"ll take what I'm having now over the obstruction.
I don't blame you for wanting to stay closer to home, it makes it easier on everyone, especially where you have a son already. How old is he? In general, I'm feeling this pregnancy more, probably because I have a 2 year old to chase. And, we still have some bumpy nights, like last night, where I'm up wtih him a bit. All in all he's a good sleeper, but every few weeks we hit a bump for a night or two. Keep your fingers crossed that tonight is better! Definitely keep your mind off of the what ifs...try to enjoy being pregnant if you can. This is our last, so as uncomfortable as I am, I'm trying to savor the experience. |

Hi Whitney,
I'm about 10 weeks pregnant and am due Oct 3rd. This is my third child and it was kind of a "whoops" if you know what I mean..lol! But just because it wasn't planned doesn't mean it is not welcome. I was pretty freaked out when I first realized I was pregnant...I am 37, I have a 16 year old son, a 7 year old daughter, problems with blood pressure, I'm not married yet, I'm a j-poucher, etc., etc.!!!! That said...it didn't take me too long to warm up to the idea. Turning all of the stuff I said above around...I have a WONDERFUl fiancee, two children that are excited about having a little brother or sister, I am being treated for the blood pressure and I am a j-poucher and NOT a UC sufferer like I was when I was pregnant with my daughter. I too am showing a baby bump already. This pregnancy has affected me alot more than the previous two. I have been more tired, more nauseas and I've had aches and pains that I never had before. Maybe it's my age, but it hasn't been all that fun. I have a regular OB, however I am going for a high risk consult toward the end of this month for genetic counseling, testing, ultrasound and blood pressure evaluation. Hopefully everything will check out ok. I've been having a few issues with the pouch. Alternating frequency with constipation like symptoms..it's weird. I am taking a prenatal vitamin with a stool softner now though and it seems a little better. Anyhow, enough out of me...I'm just glad I can come here to chat Alex ---------------------------------------------------------------- "We must try not to sink beneath our anguish, but battle on" --Professor Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince |

That's awesome! You sound like me! So much going on in your life & boom your prego! It was a huge shocker for us. We were not trying, but we weren't not trying either. I droppped the bomb for V Day! My husband sat there looked at the table for about 5 minutes & left. Can you believe that? I thought he had lost his mind!!!! Anyway, he is extremely worried about me & what I have been through. I think he was most scared that my folks might kill him for doing this. Anyway everything has worked it's way out. Now I have to find a place to put this kid. All the bedrooms are taken at this point in time. My oldest is not having anyone in his room.. THE DRAMA!! Do you think you will have you baby earlier than Oct. 3rd? That would bring you closer to my date 9-25. Although I will probably go early myself as I did with both of my boys. 11 days early on both of them. 9 lbs & 8.4 lbs!! I have chubsters!! Whitney |

We have the same problem with bedrooms! My fiancee moved in only 8 months ago. He owns a house in a different town (far from my children's schools) and I rent. He has moved in with me so that we don't have to uproot the kids. His house is a four bedroom and the rental is a 3 bedroom which really stinks cuz we can't move to his house, the one that has enough bedrooms! We want to buy a house but we'd have to sell his first and the market in Florida is HORRIBLE for selling right now!
Not quite sure what we're going to do. My daughter's room is very small and of course my 16 year old will not share. And actually this is all traumatic enough for him as it is. We've been talking about sleeping on an air mattress in the living room and giving the baby our room for the time being...lol! Not sure what we're going to do but hopefully we'll be able to buy before the baby gets old enough to really NEED his or her own room. My babies were big too...my son was 9lbs 4oz and my daughter was 8lbs 10oz. I had my son two days early and I was induced a week early with my daughter because I became so ill with UC and they were afraid she was going to be bigger than my son. That was a funny reaction from your husband. Sometimes I wonder what goes on in a man's mind..lol! My fiancee (boyfriend at the time) looked at me, said are you sure and when I said yes, he said "I love You!" and held me all night. He is 44, never been married and has no children...this is a dream come true for him and he is soooooo happy! I tell you, his happiness has helped me alot because I was really really freaked out! He is a wonderful man and has been so good to me and my children...he is going to make a fantastic dad I'm sure we will both figure things out...we should keep each other posted.
