hi all
i am 29 weeks pregnant and have been getting on ok so far. but ofr the last couple of weeks i've had increased frequency, diarrhoea nd even a couple of overnight accidents. i'm starting to feel like i have colitis all over againa dn can't go out unless i know there's a toilet nearby.
has anybod any suggestions what i can take/do? we don't have 'wafers' here in the uk and immodium (lomotil) isn't allowed in pregnancy. i ahve tried the thickening foods such as rice, pasta, potatoes, bananas etc and they've made no difference.
thank you for any help anyone can give!

Do you have metamucil or benefiber powder or capsules there? Ask your doctor but I think you can take that when you are pregnant. The wafers are made with metamucil.

Do they think it might be the growing baby pushing on your insides as it's growing?

I experienced the same thing. I think third trimester frequency can be a problem for women without pouches too. You're in the home stretch, and pre-preggers bathroom habits are just a few months away. My frequency got progressively worse during the third trimester. My doctors evn thought I had pouchitis and put me on Flagyl. I thought it was strange because I never really had problems with pouchitis. Now that I'm not pregnant everything is back to normal. I ate a lot of oatmeal and bananas, which helped a little. Now, my 8 moth old twin boys love oatmeal and bananasSmilerI also took probiotics. I don't know how much they helped? Hang in there!

yep, increased frequency will come as the baby gets bigger. i'm 38 weeks now and go quite a bit. if you're feeling straining though and colitis-like symptoms, then it is possible you do have pouchitis. it's hard to say. your doc can prescribe you flagyl or augmentin if he/she thinks it might help. on a good note, my increased frequency didn't get much worse throughout the 3rd trimester. it's been kind of the same for the last several weeks. i forgot what it feels like to go only a few times a day...it will be very welcomed after this boy is born!
