I just thought I would post one more time on this subject and ask all of you to put the word out for us. We have been trying to have another child for almost three years and now have decided to adopt. We are so excited, but having no luck. If any of you know anyone wanting to place there child, maybe you could mention our website at parentprofiles.com profile #19836. We feel lucky to have other children but would love one more!!
Thank you!! J mattdgsf |

I wish you the best. I've recently started gathering information on different agencies because I've decided that when the time comes, I would like to adopt. Could I ask what agency you are using? Is it local or national?
Goodluck to you! I hope you get a baby soon. "...all things work together for the good of those that love Him..." Romans 8:28 |

We are using an agency through our church called family services. It takes a long time going through them, we are getting ready to look at different agencies or go international, it just costs so much! Good Luck to you too!!

My husband and I were in the process of a home study for adoption when we ran into a bad social worker and decided to try fertility treatments (which worked - our son is 15 months old and we just did an embryo transfer trying for #2). Long story, let me know if you want details.
However, I learned a few things that might be of help to you. First, there is a $10,000 tax CREDIT for those who adopt. Second, many employers offer a subsidy for adoption, but it often isn't well publicized. Third, many agencies offer subsidies for those who have financial need and sometimes for those who adopt waiting children (who often have medical issues that in this country are considered fixable). The Dave Thomas Foundation (the founder of Wendys restaurants, who was adopted) offers a lot of information - follow this linkDave Thomas Foundation. The cost of adopting internationally can be lower than adopting in country, especially if you adopt from a country with an orphan crisis, like so many of the African countries. Right now adopting from China has a longer wait (usually 18-24 months, now could be longer) as the Chinese government is starting to see the impact of so many girls leaving the country and they are really trying to promote Chinese families adopting the girls before allowing them to go international. I know how overwhelming it is to get started with this process, so let me know if you have questions. QDM, you may want to post a thread with adoption in the title, I know there are a few folks here who have adopted successful. They may not be reading the thread with the current title.... |
