| Cipro is a class c drug so you shouldn't be on it while pregnant and ideally should be off it for a few months before you get pregnant. I was told to wait a year before trying to get pregnant so that the body could heal from the surgeries and be strong fir the pregnancy. You are so fresh out of surgery and if you have pouchitis you are already dealing with enough adjustment. I'd wait to see if you can get the pouchitis under control.
I had a failed pouch and went to a perm ileo and had two babies after that and was 34 and 37 at delivery so you have some time. Don't rush it. Get yourself healthy first. |

| dpaws, regarding medication for pouchitis and pregnancy, please see my reply in a different thread that you had started. i agree with jill that you need to find an alternative other than cipro before you get pregnant. however, regarding timing...most people will recommend to wait a year, but i didn't want to wait that long (and i had my surgeon's blessing that i didn't need to wait that long). i had my colon removed due to dysplasia, not UC complications, so i was very healthy. i was physically feeling great 5 months post take down (and we had put off our second baby for a whole year due to the surgeries) so i was more than ready. i tried the augmentin for a month to make sure it worked well, and then we got pregnant right away. i am very glad that i didn't wait longer, but everyone's bodies are different.
