I'm 11 weeks pregnant. Yeah! No problems with morning sickness. Yeah! What I have is a bad case of hemorrhoids. Blah! I've done hot sitz baths twice a day, tucks brand pads, ice packs... what else can I do? I can't find relief. I've had to take off work early because of the pain. I am at my last straw. Is there anything I can do? Will they go away?

I use nupercainal. It releives the burn and itch almost immediately. I have tried all kinds of things and other than a prescription lidocaine cream this works the best.

Thank you for your response. Unfortunetly, that product is not recommended for me since I'm allergic to sulfites and that I'm pregnant. Is there anything else?

Are the hemmerhoids from straining...asking because I'm 14 weeks and finding that I have to strain to go to the bathroom which is weird for someone with a jpouch considering the stool is not hard.
Anyways, I always found Calmoseptine worked best for me....cools and relieves. Good luck. |

I know! I thought it was weird too that I was straining. Usually I find relief after I've emptied my pouch, but lately it feels like there's still stuff in there. So I would push. I thought at first that I pulled a muscle or something, then the horrible pain started. I found out later that the reason it feels that I'm not completely empty in the swelling of the veins that start in the 10-14 week part of pregnancy. Lucky us
I'll look for Calmoseptine. Thanks for the tip, and stay safe out there in the snow. We have rain, lots and lots of rain. |

Phewf, I'm kindof relieved to hear you are having the same "straining" problem as I am. I always panick and think it's the disease again. That makes sense, the swelling, etc. My doc said too that there is pressure from the organs (uterus, bladder, etc.) pressing on the pouch and/or scar tissue even if we are very early on in the pregnancy...cant wait till I get really big then! I buy Calmoseptine at the drugstore, but I have to ask the pharmacist to order it for me, about $10 I think. YOu can also go on the Calmoseptine web site, it is a link off of jpouch.org and they will send you samples. Take care. And, yes, there is a tun of snow, more than I've seen in 15 years. But they say it will rain this weekend...we'll have to look out for flooding!

Me too. I thought something might be wrong b/c I feel like pushing/straining a lot too. I use calmoseptine as well. It does give instant relief. Sharon
