I had my takedown around seven years ago and occasionally I'll have pain under the scar where my ileostomy was. It seems to be times when I've gone to the bathroom a lot that day. I went for an HSG Monday and have had the same pain since Monday evening. It's better today and the nurse has no idea what it could be or what to do about it. It started out as a sharp pain that prevented me from sleeping on my side and made it painful to get up from a seated position or to cough/sneeze/laugh. Today it's much better but when I get up from a seated position it feels better to put pressure on that area. Same when I laugh. I don't think it's a hernia because nothing bulges out. Have any of you had this? It's so hard to find answers because so many doctors/nurses have no idea what I'm talking about. It could be adhesions but I don't have the same sensations on my stomach and I've been cut open twice from top to bottom along the same line.

My stoma sight scar hurts from time to time as well, especially if I'm doing something active that puts any strain on it.
As far as I can tell it's just scar tissue, and no, it doesn't feel the same where I was cut through the abs. What type of scar is it? I know for me, they left me open to heal from the inside out so my scar is a gaping hole and didn't heal well at all. I can also feel a couple of sharp pokey objects underneath the skin when I press down which I assume are stitches... I think the adhesions are different in this scar than down the middle. Someone else may be along that has other thoughts on the matter but those are mine "...all things work together for the good of those that love Him..." Romans 8:28 |
