I was diagnosed 3 days before my wedding in 2003. UC not did not respond to medication therapy. I had J-Pouch surgery in 2/2004. I had the ileostomy take down in 5/2004. I had an open exploratory surgery in 6/2006 for ovarin cyst/adhesions. The doctor stated that he could not visualize the right ovary due to adhesions and the left ovary had adhered to my pelvic wall. I was blessed to have had an unexpected pregnacy before being diagnosed. But my husband, son, and I are desperatley wanting another child. I have done 2 rounds of intra-uterine insemination, and many rounds of clomid, with no success. I am asking if anyone has had these experinces and looking for hope Thank You for your time.

My fertility clinic told me that IUI was highly unlikely to work for me given the liklihood of scar tissue post 4 GI surgeries (2 for j-pouch, one to disconnect the pouch and create a perm ileo and one to remove the pouch). They gave IUI a 1% or less chance of workign for me.
Since I live in a state where these procedures are covered by insurance, the usual required process is 6 IUIs before IVF will be covered. Because of my history, we got the okay to by pass 4 of the IUIs and went to IVF. I got pregnant from my first IVF in May 2005 (Alex is almost 2) and I'm about 8 weeks pregnant from my second fresh cycle (I did one frozen cycle, got pregnant and miscarried). |
