hello everyone,
I'm new to this site. my name is Sara, and I had my jpouch surgery in Jan 2010. I am now 6 months pregnant and I take imodium almost everyday. I have read so many mixed things about taking it while pregnant and it's really driving me crazy. does anyone have any advice? it is much appreciated!

My high risk OB - who had lots of pouch and ostomy patients and whom I trusted completely - said ammonium was fine. Snce it was a nice to have for me - I have a perm ileo and the ammonium is a convenience not necessity for me - I chose not to take it. However I would have if I needed it as my dr said it was fine.

i got mixed advice from my obs and gi. depending on what they were looking at, it was considered both category B and C. i decided not to risk it and managed without it during pregnancy. just a heck of a lot of bathroom trips 3rd trimester at night.

First, congratulations! Smiler I took imodium (2 per day, one at breakfast, one before bed) throughout my entire pregnancy and it did not cause any problems. My son is now a healthy 5 yr. old. My Dr. wasn't concerned about the imodium, so I didn't worry about it either. I hope all goes well for you.
