Hello all...well after 1 fresh IVF cycle in Nov, 1 frozen cycle in Dec, and another fresh cycle at the end of Jan (and 2 HORRIFIC bouts of hyperstimulation) i am finally pregnant! I had 4 embies transferred on 1/29/11 and just found out Monday it worked! I am so excited but nervous and terrified about keeping the pregnancy. I have my first ultrasound on Monday 2/14 which they say I will be 5 weeks. Can anyone tell me what you can see on the first ultrasound and suggestions on not panicking about miscarriage? Thanks!!I am still relatively in shock, and dont know how many buns are cooking in there! Smiler

They will be looking for the sac with the early fetus. Seeing a heartbeat is possible but more likely after seven weeks so don't panic if they don't see it at five weeks. In general they are just making sure te embryo is implanted on the correct place and that there is a fetus in the sac.

They should be able to tell if there is more than one at this time.

Gender doesn't become identifiable until 18 weeks.

Congrats!

Wow Ingrid!!!! Congratulations!!! You worked hard for this and deserve it!!!! My twin boys conceived via IVF are now 4 months oldSmiler Today is the exact day that I had my retrieval last yearSmiler OMG...this is so so so exciting. Don't expect to see much on the ultrasound..At this point your embryo/s is/are probably smaller than a poppy seed. You should see a round sac that looks something like a jelly bean. Oh...if you remember the numbers they gave you for the hormone levels it could let you know if you might be having a multiple pregnancy. My HGH levels were over 400 when I had my first blood test. The IVF nurse and doctor said that meant it might be a multiple pregnancy. Wow! Feel free to private message me if you have any questions. I had a pretty good pregnancy with a few pouch related gastrointestinal issues.

Wonderful news!!!!! And Twins!!!

Sending good wishes for a normal, uneventful pregnancy.

Even those of us who didn't have IVF worry in the very early days about M/C. Don't think about it, just get plenty of rest.

1st trimester staples for me: Goldfish crackers and candied ginger.

Yay twins! Go, beans, go!

Trader Joe's mini ginger snaps have real candied ginger in them. I bought 2 containers of them when I got PG and then never had the nausea. But they got eaten anyway Smiler

Now that you know it's twins...a must read is the book by Barbara Luke...When You're Expecting Twins, Triplets, or Quads. That book helped me understand the early needs of a twin pregnancy.

Thanks everyone! Today i had an ultrasound and we saw 1 heartbeat, and the other one just has a yolk sac right now. So i go back on friday to see if we can see the 2nd heartbeat yet. They said its still early. I am nervous and want both of them to be ok! I will be happy with 1 of course, but still praying for the well being of #2...then they told me "uhhh how many did we say you had last week?" I said 2...they said "well there's 3, but the sac is empty" I about panicked...supposedly it is unlikely to develop into anything. Well see!

Just wanted to let everyone know thanks for all the support..I am currently 17weeks pregnant and both babies are doing fine. I havent had any problems with my pouch ..so far! I have just moved from NY to TX in the past 2 weeks and have a new high risk OB dr now on a military base who knows nothing about me...he said he would schedule the c-section for 38 weeks but im not sure i will make it that long! How many of you made it to 38wks with twins? I am only concerned because i just found out yesterday my husband is deploying in a month and i will have to go through childbirth and recovery and raising 2 newborns alone...i already did IVF alone...gets old!
