It's so different for everyone, but definately talk with your doctor and more than likely they will say to wait "such and such a time" but there is no set time. Just listen to your body and combine that with your doctor advice. Sorry, that was no help. I got pregnant three months after take down and didn't have any surgery type complications.

I have heard of people getting pregnant the month after takedown. The literature I was given after my surgery from Cleveland Clinic said to wait six months. I agree everyone is different though and you should listen to your body.

Hi ya I had the same worry as I didn't want to undo all the hard work the surgeon did by getting pregnant too soon. However I was very impatient and we decided to start trying 6 months after take down and I got pregnant straight away. Am only just over 9 weeks now so far so good.

I was told to wait 1 year after my j-pouch surgery. However, after I had my j-pouch removed - a much more complicated surgery than j-pouch construction - my surgeon told me to wait at least 3 months so that there would be 1 year between the pouch removal and c-section.
I think the biggest question is how you feel - wait until you feel really good - eating well, feeling strong. Pregnancy is taxing on the body and you want to go into it as healthy as possible. Maybe that's 3 months for you, maybe it is a year; just don't rush it because after the pregnancy exhaustion comes new baby exhaustion, toddler exhaustion, etc...
