I have a j-pouch and had my surgery over a year ago. I know that my fertility is very low and they do not know if I ovulate at all. My periods used to be very spurratic (sp) so they put me on the pill to regulate my periods. About two months ago I started to get sick again with all my stomach problems (IPS etc) and have had a constant period for two months. It is dark clotty. They also told me my uteris is abnormally large, but do not know why.
I also have a constant UTI.
I was just released from the hospital after a week for a bowel obstruction but no one addresses this?
Lindsay
Hope it will get better one day at a time.

I have never heard of this and i have noticed that no one has replied but 32 people have read it. I am sorry that i cant come up with at least some sort of suggestion or a comparision. But i feel that you should seek help further from your GI. Maybe you should switch your OBGYN to a well known one. Or look into traveling some where for help if this is a serious condition...I hope all is well and things work out for you. You are in CA i am in NYC but my GI doc is 212-369-2490 (Dr. James George) best in NY State and travel every where for seminars etc.

I would definitely recommend seeing an Ob/Gyn. They should be able to run some hormone blood tests and do an ultrasound to have a look at what is going on. That does not sound 'normal' or something that should really be common after j-pouch surgery. Your doctors probably thought that the obstruction was more of an important priority than your period/UTIs, but it definitely needs investigation. Good luck.

I'll walk this winding road into the great unknown.

Thank you for your comments. Yes I have a specialist OBGYN and a Uroligist, they are doing every CT scan there is..... yuck. My period have now stopped for a week.
But the UTI/Kidney I am waiting for results for my last Cystogram, and that will determine a lot.
Also I found a Doctor at UCLA that is going to start treating me

Thank you
Lily's Mommy,
Lindsay
