My husband and I are having our first baby - I'm only 4 weeks along. This is very exciting since we have been trying for a year and a half! I was just about to throw in the towel! I guess that's when it happens, right! Anyway, I've started taking a prenatal vitamin, by SISU. It actually is pretty good, but I have a lot of trouble handling iron suppliments and wonder if anybody else has this problem and/or a solution. I causes the feeling that I have - well - iron in my belly and my stools come out dark greeny black and sticky. The cramping I can't tell if that's from baby or not, but that is not a huge concern. Any thoughts? I can't NOT take the vitamins, I don't eat enough of the good stuff like green leafy greens and whole grains - you know "ruffage". I can't digest the stuff. Is there a prenatal that has a gentler iron suppliment?

Hi there,
Try Natchew... it really did the trick for me. I have a hard time with iron pills as well, but I haven't had any issues with this one. Congradulations on being 4 weeks pregnant. Nicole |

I am on pregnancy #2. My ob is great and he knows I can not handle prenatal vitamins not to mention I really don't digest them. He had me switch to Flinstones chewables. They contain the same amount of folic acid and iron you need. Just take one in the a.m and one in the p.m. Hope that helps. Congrats on the pregnancy
