Does pouch removal further affect a woman's fertility?

My highest priority is being able to have a family. I just had one boy in september and now have to figure out further treatment for fistulas. I was thinking of going to a perm. ostomy and having my pouch removed to hopefully get rid of my perianal disease. This surgical approach is so I don't have to take so many potentially harsh drugs that would not be good during pregnancy(humaira, 6mp, prednisone, antibiotics, etc). Obviously I am aware that I may still need some drugs to manage my crohns if problems other than fistulas arise after surgery. But I am hoping that the ostomy will rid the fistulas, which are my only crohn's symptom after having my j-pouch.

Any additional surgery in the abdomen will potentially affect fertility. THe more surgeries the more scar tissue and therefore the more possibility of problems.

Did you get pregnant naturally with your son?

I think you need to look at how you will be healthiest and then go from there. Even if fertility is affected, IVF can help. My 2 year old is an IVF baby and I"m 11 weeks pregnant with my second, also through IVF. I had 4 abdominal surgeries prior to my children - 2 step j-pouch, j-pouch disconnect and j-pouch removal.
