Hey All! I just thought I would pop in and update you on where we are. Baby and I have made it safely to the 3rd trimester! We're 29 weeks now and the c-section is scheduled for April 8th.
I've had some pain with my scar tissue but if I can take it easy it's manageable...it has become quite painful to try and teach dance so I've had to all but cut that out. I also still have issues with leakage...especially at night. I hope that is something that will resolve after the baby is born. We are very excited to be having a little girl since we are adopting a boy from Ethiopia. We were originally adopting two boys when we found out we were pregnant but now I feel like I need to think of my health and my sanity and not take on more than I can handle so we're adopting one now and hope to go back in the future. We're naming our little girl Nasia (Nah SEE ah), which is Hebrew for "miracle of Jehovah" because she is a miracle baby. I'm disappointed that the high risk doctor wants to cut me vertically for the c-section but they are concerned that with my 11 surgeries there will be too much scar tissue to get her out with a bikini cut...so I have to live with the fact that I'll have a stomach that looks like a butt now! Wow! This was long but I wanted to post an update for everyone. Attached is an ultrasound photo of little Sia smiling in the womb. "...all things work together for the good of those that love Him..." Congrats... she will be here before you know it.
Your body will be doing a lot of adjusting after pregnancy- honestly some days I don't think I use that bathroom til after my husband gets home, you will be busy but I am sure your body will cooperate- pretty amazing! Try to take it easy & rest up! She is a beauty & love the name!!! Hooray for babies! Congratulations
I know it is still a way off, but I'm interested to see how the vertical incision looks for a c-section after it is done. I might be in for one of those as well and like you I am nervous about how it will look! Perhaps they can tuck it a little when they sew you back together? |

so glad to hear things are going well!

She's beautiful already. Congratulations!

Lina, a lot of insurance companies are sticklers for NO tucking being done. Which sucks.
Enjoy the final trimester! It'll be over before you know it and you will miss these weeks! Diagnosed with UC at age 12, 1993 Complete collectomy in 1995 at age 14, four-step process due to complications. Hit by car at 19 (2000), resulting in ruptured pouch. Pouch repaired at 23 (2004). Diagnosed infertile, bi-lateral blockage at 24 (2003). IVF in 2008 and 2009 Had our miracle-daughter December 3, 2009, in a home-birth, and I'd do it again!! Don't give up!! |

Congratulations! That is so wonderful! I am curious if your original scars from the j-pouch are vertical or horizontal. I am 14 weeks pregnant have a horizontal scar from my j-pouch surgeries, so wondering if it makes a difference - do they like to go the opposite way? Thanks and congrats again!

I have two scars: a really long vertical one and a short, concave horizontal one. Actually, I just posted a thread with pictures of my scars before the big belly and with the big belly. Check out that thread and you can see pictures of them.

My scars are vrtical and I had my c section vertical. They cleaned up my scar while the OB doctor was sewing me up. They said vertical because they didn't want to damage more muscles horizontally. It was ultimately up to me. I am glad I let them do it vertically. Hope that helps.

I was able to have a bikini cut for both my pregnancies but it was always a last minute decision based on how the baby was positioned at te time of delivery.

My scars are all vertical. I had my pouch surgery in 1999 and my c-section in 2008. Based on my history, there were 2 OBs and one general surgeon there. The vote was to go vertical to follow the same line and to cut the abdominal muscles as before. The general surgeon did remove a little scar tissue also. All in all, my scar looks decent and healed nicely.
Yay for baby girls!! Laura |
