Can anyone tell me the timeframe it took them to get pregnant after the J-Pounch operation without medical intervention? I am 36 / my hubby is 40, we have one 8 yr old girl and it took us just one month to get pregnant in 1998. Since 1998 I have been very sick with UC -had the J-Pounch opertion in 2005-I feel great now and really want another child badly, but I am so scared that its going to take forever to get there....and time is one thing we are running out of. Thanks
Hi there, Age. Good to hear that you are feeling well! Everyone is different for how long it will take them to conceive. For someone over 35 and also for those with our surgical history, the standard waiting time for trying to conceive without luck before seeking help is six months. If you've been trying for that length of time and are still not pregnant, make an appointment with your ob/gyn to see if there is a reason why you are not yet pregnant. Keep in mind that women over 35 are at decreased risk for conceiving, not just those with prior abdominal surgeries, so even without a problem, it could take longer than the first time around.
Additionally, I've heard from others that ovulation detectors have been useful for them when TTC.
Regardless, relax, have fun and good luck!
