What is going on? Its been two months since part 1 and I still have not had my period!

This is really unusual for me - this is also my 21st operation so its not like its that odd a thing for me! I surely cant be pregnant given I have 2 adopted kids!!

Any ideas? Did they mess something up down there? Given how desperately anaemic I was due to UC and the need for transfusions in hospital its a good thing really - who wants their period.

I also finally finished prednisone - could it be that?

Only other drugs are beta blockers (for tachycardia) and codeine (to slow transit).

Any thoughts? I am 34.

I would pin it on your anemia. Your body will not allow you to become pregnant if you are not healthy enough to carry to term (even if you are infertile, everything else works the same). The drugs you are on would not have an effect, unless you are having adrenal insufficiency by stopping the prednisone.

My period ceased for several months and I even exhibited symptoms of menopause with hot flashes and night sweats. I was only 30 at the time.

Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass.

Thank you Jan. I appreciate your response. It sounds like this is something that happens - I am glad to hear it's not just me!
Perhaps I'll get lucky and it wont come back without any menopause symptoms!

I am also a poly-operate like you (but older) and usually got my period on the operating table every time..until 4 yrs ago...then I lost my period for about 6 months with every surgery...after the 9 recent surgeries it is just too damnn scared to come back! Big Grin I had to take hormones to bring it on...too rough on my emotions so I gave up...no more periods...less anemia too...so patience...I didn't have too many menopausal symptoms..;I took soya-esterogene replacements from GNC and they helped a lot...no more night sweats or hot flashes...

Thanks Sharon!

I hope that my body gives up on them altogether without any symptoms of anything else - heaven!

Does your body also look like a war zone? I had a fairly long period with no operations which was lovely (13 years - my first 20 operations were between age 7 and 20) - hope this next one will be it!

I've had only about half the surgeries you've had which is enough for me; so sorry you've had to go through so much!

My period went missing for about a year and half after one of them but eventually came back. I'm sure it's just your body's way of healing and dealing with everything.

I hope this is your last surgery!

Yes Clicky, I have a full blown war zone going on down there...around 20-25 major scars..not counting all of the little ones..upwards of 40 surgeries, the first on my second birthday for an anal anastamosis..my rectum did not reach the bottom...then dozens to correct that...I heal poorly so each surgery meant 3 more to fix what they had just fixed...I also had a wonderful dozen years without surgery between 1980-1992 and then 7 years until 1999...boy did I enjoy thoses years Big Grin!
Since then it has been a dozen+++ with tons of complications on top of complications..
I now dream of having my abdomen fixed by a plastic surgeon..vain maybe but a littl bit of vanity never hurt anyone...And if it makes me feel prettier in front of the mirror (and my hubby) why not...
I have promised to wait one year until everything is stabalized inside but I am so anxious to get it done...I hate my abdomen...the doctor has promised to reunite a couple of scars and to suck out a fat packet under the skin on the right side only..the old hernia site has left me with a half-melon sized lump off of my side too...
So...no more period and soon I hope a few less scars, lumps and bumps...life could be much worse!
