Yup it's okay. My high risk OB was okay with me taking it, however, I chose not to because it was sort of an extra for me. I would recommend getting to the lowest dose you can adn still be comfortable.

Hi MeganAmy,
I've also read Kaopectate is safe to take during pregnancy. It works pretty much the same as immodium. I'm in the same boat at 17 weeks pregnant and have been fine taking the kaopectate.

I am 10 weeks right now. I take one 2 mg immodium a day. The first few weeks my frequency was unpredictable and more liquid than normal so I felt like I needed it. (Everything I read says Immodium and Benadryl are safe in moderation) But I am noticing now I am slowly down naturally so I might not need immodium at all. Good luck!

Immodium is safe without monitoring, but be careful with Benadryl and Sudafed. While safe, they can both raise your blood pressure. My high risk OB office won't let me take either unless my blood pressure has been checked recently and was considered good. This will become more and more important as your pregnancy progresses and high blood pressure becomes more of an issue.

Hi, I took 2 gastro-stop (2 -loperamide hydrochloride 2mg) during my last pregnancy when my daughter was born she had to go to the special care nursery for a few days as she was unwell and had a sluggish bowel - the paediatrician said it was probably a result of me taking gastro stop. I was very concerned at the time as they did xrays of her bowel and other tests, everything came back normal and she was fine after a week and she is now a healthy 1 year old. I am 31 weeks prgenany now and have taken the gastro-stop again this pregancy as I feel that if you really need it which I know I do you need to look after yourself and take it and my obstetrician tells me it is ok to take it.
