I was wondering if anyone's menstrual cycle was off track after their surgeries? I was diagnosed with cancer in mid october, had surgery oct 26 and 27, then had a takedown jan 10. I was on and off my birth control in that time frame since I was 'NPO' in the hospital. I don't know if its just because my body has been under so much stress lately? Does it work back out?

Colon Cancer Diagnosis: 10/15/07
Total colectomy/ J Pouch Surgery: 10/26/07
Illeostomy take down: 1/10/08

Wow, you've been through a lot in the past few months. I hope you are doing well and feeling better.

I am no expert, but considering what your body has been through I am not surprised that your cycle is out of whack. Just going off birth control can throw things off for a few months. I would give your mind and your body some time to readjust and I'm sure it will work itself out.

Good luck!

i had uc for about 16 years before my surgery. in that time my cycle was so off, went a year once without my period. before uc i was like clockwork, after , so crazy! i got pregnant with my first & didnt even know! the real slap in the face though was when i finally "came to" after my surgery, the first time i went to the bathroom i realized i had my period! cramps & all!!!!!! that was november 2007, since then - nothing. I do think i should talk to a dr about it to be sure theres no health risks involved, but for now, im enjoying the freedom!
