Hello!
Congratulations! I am 37 weeks, any day now I'll get to meet my little one..
I have to say the only problem I have had is like all the others posted, trouble emptying the pouch all the way, and having gas/bloating, probably starting around 25 weeks. Other than that I have felt great.

About your night sweats question, yes, I've had them before and during pregnancy. I have no idea why, but they are not that bad for me, I just throw the covers off and I'm fine. I do not have to change clothes or anything.

Enjoy being pregnant. I was scared to death through this whole process, but it helped to concentrate on the end result instead of what could happen.

Good luck!

Thanks Winnie!

I am so happy for you.

My night sweats happen before I realize it & then I wake up & sweats rolls off of me. I wonder why this happens!

If you find time on Maternity leave, let us know about your experience & ofcourse BABY!

Hi, my wife is having c-section on 10th March 2008 following J-pouch surgery in 2005. Our first daughter was born in 2003 whilst she still had the ileostomy.
Overall she's had a reasonable pregnancy, but now in the latter stages is more than ready to relinquish our new bundle of joy!! No serious blockages to speak of, just a series of minor ones that have luckily cleared themselves in a short space of time.
If anyone can put my mind at rest though? I am worried sick, not least because I hate the sight of blood and gore,(yes I'll be in theatre holding her hand), but more so because of the risk associated with the c-section operation. Unfortunately I have this morbid fear that whoever will be undertaking the operation wont have a full appreciation of her J-pouch and something will go wrong!!? How likely is it the pouch is damaged during delivery for example?
Thanks to you all, and good luck to all of you brave ladies who are pregga's with pouch!! x

Hey Macca92-

I am having a c-section too, and have been worried about the risks and such. My pouch surgeon and OB are at two different hospitals. When I first started seeing my OB only 1 of the 4 in the group had ever heard of the pouch. My surgeon suggested when I get pregnant to have whatever doctor I go to contact him for a "lesson" if you will. They did that, and my surgeon also suggested having a colon/rectal surgeon on hand during the c-section just incase. They are doing that. I understand your concern, make sure you express that to all the doctors. I feel better knowing someone with pouch/colon experience will be in the room. Although nothing is for sure, I've read many times on this site that the c-section will be the easiest of the surgeries us pouchers have gone though. My only advice is put all your fears on the table, talk to the docs, they can help put your mind at ease. Good luck!

Well I'm new to this sight. I'm very excited to be with this group. I have been a j-poucher for almost 11 years. Youngest one to have J-pouch in my State at the time.

I have had three c-sections. VERY VERY glad to have gone this route. One thing I just want to say - If you made it through J-pouch surgery, You'll fly through C-section. I'm aiming for my fourth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Night sweats AYE Yigh yigh! Do only J-pouchers get this? I swore I woke up drenched!!! Anyways, Congratulations to you all. It's so so so so wonderful to see these little miracle babies come into this world!!!!!!!!

Thanks to Winnie and HeatherR for your help. I'll write a letter to the Surgeon who did the pouch surgery. The funny thing is, the OB is the wife of the surgeon!! All along, therefore, we thought there would be no problem. Unfortunately it turns out the OB is not doing the C-section as she rarely undertakes them these days.
They've requested the J-pouch surgeon to be on stand by, but as of yet we do not know who is performing the operation and if the J-pouch surgeon we mentioned will actually be available?!!

Anyway, we have, as of now, 12 days to go..so I'll keep you posted as to what happens.

Thanks again

Jamie

Hi Whitney...I had a successful twin pregnancy after Jpouch...I was actually much healthier than my miscarriage before surgery (when I had a colon), it was a much better pregnancy. I totally had night sweats, very normal both during and after (they get worse after). It's hormones-it is weird though....hang in there-be happy baby is with you now, try to live in present-I know it's hard Smiler

CONGRATS!!! Aw! I bet you're so excited!!!

This is great! I've always been worried about pregnancy after everything that's been done!

I'm no where near ready yet, but it's very comforting to know that when i am ready it's not a huge issue! My boyfriend of 3 years is happy too now that I've read him a little of this lol. One day, one day maybe we'll have a little one, WAY down the road.

GOOD LUCK x3489438754 but I'm sure you won't need it!

THANKS!

Congrats! That's great news!

ANy surgery should have you somewhat worried, but I'm glad the c-section went smoothly and all is well.

The first few days with a new baby are so precious, I hope you are all enjoying every minute of it.

Just wanted to let everyone know I went to my OB appt yesterday & through ultrasound they determined my due date to be 9/25/08. The baby looked good. Head, tummy, heart, arms & legs,,, everything looks great. I did not get to ask my list of questions because I saw a nurse practitioner. My next appt. is April 2nd & I will see my real Doctor that day. Hope all is well with all of you guys. Please keep us up to date on how each of you are doing. We J-pouchers can never have to much advise!

Loves

Hi all.

Well its day 4 since my wife gave birth to our daughter Ava. Everything seems fine so far. The only problems we have had is that Ava has had a bit of mucus stuck inside and has choked a few times. This can happen when having a c-section as the baby can not expel all of the rubbish like it does when a woman has a normal vaginal birth.During a normal birth it is squeezed from them.

My wife has also said that although her J-pouch is ok, the bruising inside her from the section hurts a little as the pouch fills up, especially if it expands due to gas. Although she says its not too bad so don't worry Wink

Hope this info helps??

Jamie
