Hi everyone. I am on day 6 of stimming. I went in for my first check yesterday and had 13 follicles. I had been taking follistim for 4 days and now they added menopur. I go back Wednesday morning for another check. I'm very excited but also getting nervous and starting to obsess. We haven't done any other fertility treatments prior to this so it is all very new. I'm really nervous about the retrieval, my ovaries are not where they should be due to scar tissue from pouch surgeries. They may have to be "creative" in order to get my eggs. My R ovary is actually adhered to my pouch. Any one have any difficulties with this? Anyone have eggs retrieved other than transvaginal? They may have to go through my abdominal wall or bladder. The ovaries may move as they grow and get heavy so they won't know what the approach will be until the time comes. I hope they do move...to a better place. Any and all advice is welcome as well as prayers. Thanks! -Lisa

Hi Lisa,
I had my first IVF done last february sadly it did not work, but I am going to be doing it again in the near future. One of my ovaries is behind my uterus and I don't think my doc had any problems getting my eggs, well he never said anything about having a hard time. I'm sure they will think of a way to get them if they have a hard time. I hope it all works out for the best and that you get BFP. Jenny |

Lisa,
Good luck to you. I have done two retrievals and my first one was very complicated and actually took over a month to complete with all the hormones. I was a slow to absorb the hormones due to the scar tissue. BUT they were able to get 10 eggs and 6 good quality embryos from this complex cycle. I too had scar tissue which made getting them out a bit harder, but these people know what they are doing and they will find a way to get yours too. I hope the 1st try is a winner for you! Nicole |

Good Luck LisaJo!
My first fresh IVF resulted in Alexander who is just over two. My second fresh IVF resulted in baby #2 who will arrive July 16th by c-section. I hope IVF works as well for you as it did for us! |

Just wanted to let everyone know that my egg retrieval was Monday. It was very quick and easy, my RE went through my abdomen, if he had done it internally as is usually done he would have had to go through my uterus to get to the L and through my pouch to get to the R. We got 10 eggs, 2 were immature and were discarded, the 8 good ones ALL fertilized. We are so excited, hoping they all continue to develop well. The plan is to do a 5 day transfer so that's Saturday the 19th, we'll transfer 2 and freeze what's left. Just wanted to let you all know.

Well things have been a little busy around here so I fell off the board for awhile. We ended up with 5 good embryos and the Dr recommended that we transfer just one. We followed her advice and were happy not to have to make the decision ourselves, we were always a little nervous about the prospect of twins. Anyway, great news, I had my beta yesterday and my HCG was 396!! I go back again on Wednesday and Friday to follow the numbers.
I'm very happy but not sure it has totally hit me yet, I think I will feel better when the first trimester is over and we are still pregnant. I always seem to have whatever complications could possibly arise, this process has been much smoother that I anticipated. Last year was awful and everything went wrong, my husband said this would be the year that everything goes right, so far so good, I hope we maintain the pattern. Thanks Ladies, I'll keep you posted. And Congratulations again to Nicole and Missa and any one else out there who is pregnant or just had their baby. -Lisa I've had good days and bad days and going half mad days... |

Oh congrats LisaJo! We too were blessed that our first IVF worked - it is somewhat shocking since I think we are condition to think it will take a long time (and does for many people).
As for feeling better after the first trimester, you will, but only a little so. As I've been telling Nicole, then you'll start to worry about all the things "normal" pregnant women worry about - is the baby moving enough? Am I eating enough? Will the baby come early? Will the baby be healthy? And once the baby is born, it gets worse still -is the baby sleeping enough, eating enough, pooping enough (but not too much), what if he/she gets hurt or sick, etc....Worry is the new state of mind for you as a Mom. But, so worth it, especially as they get old enough to tell you and show you how they feel. Hugs from my 2 year old wipe away any of the bad times we had. Tonight we saw him give those hugs to both Nanas and it was worth $1million dollars to see how happy it made them too. Our #2 arrives in July (first fresh IVF since our son) and we are so excited to have a newborn again. And worried about the transition for our son, and worried about the baby's needs, and worried, worried, worried Congrats again! |

Yes, I had this happen in May/June 2007. It is basically like a chemical pregnancy. My levels never came down, but the drs were sure it wasn't ectopic. I had a D&C and then had to wait 2 months to try again.
I'm so sorry you're going through this...it is very disappointing and frustrating. |
