I think you should see an OB/GYN to investigate why this is occurring. There are many causes to cessation, it may have nothing to do with your surgery.

From your other posts it would seem obvious to me it is due to your serious weight loss. Menses will not return until you approach a normal weight. That is a normal physiological effect and common in very lean athletes and anorexics.

Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass.

I will agree with Jan. I was very underweight for a long time and went without my period for years. It's back now, but still sporadic. I still have about 10-15 lbs. to gain before considered a healthy weight though.

Also BC will not help if caused by being underweight anyway.

Hi there,
well i had the same surgery Nov 22nd and take down Dec 27th. i am wondering the same thing. I too have yet to have a period. I talked to the OB and he has given me progesterone to jump start the period. You may want to contact the OB. I too lost a lot of weight which could be why as well.

I also had my period just stop after my first surgery. I had to stop birth control pills due to blood clots. My OB had me just wait, after about a year she tested my hormones and found I was in full menopause.... wow what a shock. I'm 42 and had no menopause symtoms. She thought it might have been from the shock to my body from the surgery.

If you are underweight that would be cause. Thats maybe the only good thing about UC to me...I didn't have a period for months because I was so stinken skinny. However if you were having it before your surgery then it just stopped post surgery I'd wonder....

I had my surgery in December, 2009. I hadn't had a period since I got pregnant with my son (he was born in April, 2009, and I breastfed until surgery). My takedown was in March, 2010 and I didn't have a period until November, 2010. Since then, they have been anywhere from 29-41 day cycles. I am still ovulating, though, and got pregnant (m/c) last month. I think mine stopped for so long because I lost so much weight and was so sick for a while and it took a long time to recover
