I can't answer your question but I used to empty the appliance, roll it up and tape it down (picture-frame it). Men, being men, usually don't let anything deter them from their goal. I was much more conscious of thingeys than DAMN BRIAN was. kathy

Yup, they are called stoma caps. You can get them through any of the major suppliers. They are most often used by colostomy patients who have more predictible ouptut schedules, but for short term use, they are fine. I used to use them to shower so the everyday bag didn't get wet (too hard to dry). Then I got lazy and I don't use them any more.

You might also want to consider where a pouch support belt, like this one: http://www.ostomysupportsystem.com/I get the feeling that these aren't as widely used as I initially thought, but I LOVE mine. It really helps me with my "body issues" - everything from making me feel like I can wear whatever I want to having sex (which I told my husband would NEVER happen until takedown, and lucky for him, I got over that pretty quickly. Still a while to go till takedown and this belt gives me all the confidence I need). Not what you were asking about, but just another suggestion. Lisa

I used a strapless stretchy bra (it was like a mini tube top from back in the day ) and wore it around my waist with my freshly emptied bag folded up under it. The bra held the bag flat and kept it hidden. You can buy them at your local discount department store.

That is what i did also. I got a strapless stretchy bar at Kmart or somewhere. Mine had padding that could be removed so I of course removed them. Didn't want my boob to hang that low!!

Convatec makes a mini-pouch that can be found here. Also, you can find ostomy covers at Yentl's Secrets. I agree with Kathy that I don't think guys care a whole lot. It bothered me at first but not my husband, but I got over it pretty quickly. We were both happy that I was healthy enough to want sex. Have fun!

Just want to reiterate what Jill M said, when I had my temp ileo it never bothered my husband. It clearly bothered me more than him. Once when i was so self conscious, my husband told me not to worry and I enjoyed sex so much more when I realized it was me who was more self conscious. Just thought I'd mention that. It never bothered him. THere is also a website that carries sexy covers for the bags (i.e. heart shaped and silky), I don't know the name of it but thought Id throw it out there in case it would help.

As others have mentioned, it seems to bother us more than it does the hubby or significant others. I was horrified at how I looked but I ended up having one bag on each side of my abdomine. as a result of infection the doc had to give me a mucus-fistula until takedown. So I was doubly troubled with all the bags etc hanging off me. I got a couple of pretty scarves that I wrapped around my middle and tucked the bags inside. Did the trick and it felt more like lingerie.

Acting Sarah Interesting topic you raise here... Although my hubby said it didn't matter to him, I was absolutely horrified to have my 'swinging bag of sh**' hanging around during sex. Here's my tip. I'm not sure if this is the bag you refer to but it's a small closed end bag that you can just toss afterward (http://www.convatec.ca/convatec/jsp/CVTBProductDetail.do?prodId=CA71&language=en&country=CA&audience=Consumer). Then on top of that I used a cloth tape called Mefix (4 inch) and taped over top of the bag (http://www.tendra.com/item.asp?id=4839&lang=2&si=3) & wafer. It looked like a large bandaid and was held snug to my body. It sounds like a lot of effort but it's not really. It definately killed any spontenatity but it worked for me.

The heart shaped bag covers that were mentioned earlier can be found at www.myheartties.com. They look really pretty!

Wish I had seen those heart shape coverups. I spent much on sexy covering/outfits. Atually sex was not hampered but the j-pouch, maybe b/c men want to have fantasies. And I found some hot outfits too. Leslie
