Has anyone had a pregnancy with a temp ileo? Because they tend to be more problamatic to begin with, I was wondering if they can retract or anything as your belly gets bigger. Also, is it problem changing the bag? Meaning, can you see past your big belly to do it properly or do you need help?
On that same note, whether with a temp or perm ileo, do you have any trouble getting a good wafer fit immediately after pregnancy? I remember after my son was born (before my j-pouch surgeries) my belly was a big, soft, mushy mess for awhile and I didn't know if all that "softness" could cause a problem with a bag staying on. THANK YOU! Erin I live for my son! Step One: April 8th, 2005 Step Two: June 15th, 2005 Temp loop ileo again: August 15th, 2007 - due to unknown pouch pain. |

I had a perm ileo when pregnant. I had no trouble changing the appliance, except maybe in the last 2 weeks or so. THen I just had my hubby make sure I was getting the wafer in the right spot.
After delivery I got caught off guard with a big leak and couldn't figure out why. Then I realized my belly was getting smaller. So, I changed more frequently for a month or so, but no big deal. I did have to switch from my usual convex appliance to a flat wafer in the 4/5 month range. |
