I don't have PCOS, but I do have blocked tubes from having 4 abdominal surgeries. I had a j-pouch and got pregnant with my son, but the pouch failed and I now have a permanent ileostomy. I was just told the other day that I have adhesions everywhere and will probably never be able to get pregnant again. Right now I am devastated, but also praying for a miracle, because I want another baby soooo badly. God gave me my first baby, and I know he will give me another, but we might have to adopt or do IVF in order for it to happen. Believing with you for your little miracle!

I'm not advising that you jump into IVF by any means, but keep in mind that age matters in fertility treatments. Your chances of success are MUCH greater the younger you are. I was 33 when I started with my clinic and I was told I wasn't old but I wasn't young either. I had three pregnancies through IVF, the middle one I miscarried. I was 34 and 37 when I delivered.

Did you end up with twins from the IVF? I want another baby naturally soo badly, but I know my body could not handle twins. Do you know what percentage of women have multiples through IVF?

What does not get publicized much is the fact that many of the high profile high order multiples are the result of IUI not IVF. The advantage with IVF is that you can decide how many embryos to transfer. True an embryo can split, but you have much more control over multiples with IVF than you do with IUI (where they stimulate the ovaries, then inseminate so any number of the eggs created could be fertilized and implant).

With my first IVF procedure, we transferred two embryos. Both were three day 8 cell embryos - good, but the standard 40% chance of it working. My hormone levels were sky high so we believe I was pregnant with twins, but by my 7 week ultrasound, only one baby was there. Most likely the second embryo didn't implant well enough and failed to thrive, leaving one healthy baby. Pregnancy went full term and Alex just turned 6.

When I went for my second child, I did a frozen cycle with no medications. I did get pregnant but miscarried early.

When I did the second full cycle, the drs wanted me to wait 5 days before transferring the embryo because I had the unexplained miscarriage (no chromosomal abnormalities, no problems with my anatomy). Then I ended up getting Ovarian Hyper Stimulation Syndrome so we waited a total of 6 days to transfer. I had already decided I only wanted to transfer one embryo, but when they told me that the embryo was a "hatching embryo" with a 90% chance of implanting, I was SURE I only wanted to transfer one. That pregnancy went full term and Meghan is now 3 1/2.
