A recent CT found a 10 cm ovarian cyst. I have had cysts on both ovaries on and off for a while. This is the biggest one though. Does anyone know if this can be treated without surgery if it needs to be drained, or do they have to use a laproscope? Is it safe to leave it to see if it will go away? I'm going to have my gyno do an ultrasound to confirm it's not a nasty one like cancer or anything. I'm guessing it's just fluid like normal. I'm just worried about the size.
I have been having left sided pain which has felt like a kink or blockage, but it's not constant or anything (thank the Lord. I had one once that hurt like a kidney stone for a month!!!) Any advice would be welcome. I'm hoping not to go on BC again since I'm getting up there in age (just turned 40....I know that's not old, but BC causes more problems the older you are) Take care...Lori Lori Hippelheuser |

Lori,
I understand being worried about the size; hard to believe something that big could be inside and not causing harm. I currently have a 7cm cyst....your questions depend upon what kind of cyst the drs determine you have. I was told (after an ultrasound) that I have an uncomplicated hemorraghic cyst that is blood filled. My drs have decided that this kind of cyst will come and go with my cycles and that there is no need to do any kind of treatment. I've been taking Tylenol when the pain is bad (which isn't too often); more often I have an ache in my lower back by my kidney as opposed to real pain. I would definitely pursue an ultrasound to see what's going on, but I hope you get a diagnosis as simple as mine. |
