Hi all,
I'm two months post takedown and I'm still going quite frequently (10+ a day). Sometimes, all I want to do is pee but when I sit down I end up having a BM too. This increases my BMs which I'm trying to control. How can I use the bathroom to pee without having a BM at the same time? I also drink a lot of water and stay pretty hydrated but it's almost a double edge sword because of the other issue. Any tricks and/or tips would be great! Thanks, Betty |

Let me know if you ever figure that one out...I'm ten years post take down and still have 10+ bowel movements a day and RARELY am able to pee without having a bowel movement (which makes giving urine samples tricky).
The only time I can possibly pee without having a BM is if I drink a TON of water. "...all things work together for the good of those that love Him..." Romans 8:28 |

I'm mostly in the same boat, but have found that when I am VERY faithful with my Kegels and fibre (i.e. metamucil) I do cut down on the BMs. Most of the time it doesn't bother me, so I don't worry about it.

I am 4 months post takedown and have found something that works for me! I know this might sound kind of weird but I have found that if I squat halfway over the toilet instead of sitting all the way down I am able to pee without bm's. Sometimes if I feel kind of like I have to have a bm but don't want to it helps to kind of hold my butt cheeks together with my hand while doing this. Weird but it works!! Just make sure you have good aim over the toilet :-)

Thanks all,
To Daisy18 ~ I don't think anything is weird so long as it works and it gives me relief. Thanks! Betty |

I guess my question is, why does it matter to you? Even if I do not feel the urge to have a BM, if I need to urinate, I am happy to empty my pouch at the same time (kill two birds with one stone).
Jan Take a deep breath and relax; this too will pass. |

Hi
I found I was aware of how many times I went to the toilet and so on for at least a year after my second op, but time will really help and no matter how many times you pass a BM, with or without urine, you probably won't even notice after a while and it simply won't matter anymore. It's easy to focus on something when it's new to you, but life will just carry on before you know it x Jools x Dx UC 1985 J-pouch 2 stages 1996 Pregnant EDD 20th Oct 2010 |
