I'm 11 days post-op now, after my pouch re-do and loop ileo. My stoma appears to have shrunk already, like barely sticks out into the bag. No leaks, changing 1 piece every 3 days, (had allergic reaction to stomahesive paste in hosptal, skin doing better now), using convatec 1-piece, powder, and convatec cut-to-fit skin barrier, (like eakins i think, just flat sheet). So, right a question in here... is it okay to use a convex to get the stoma to pop up a little, without the directions from an ET nurse? My output is very watery, I empty at about 1/2 full like 10 times a day so far.
addt- when is it too soon to start immodium to slow the output? I'm seeing my food in the bag within 10 minutes of eating? This message has been edited. Hi Annie,
As long as your stoma has healed properly it should be ok to wear a convex wafer but I would check with your ET nurse first. Sounds like you are right on track and coping really well. Nice to see you are keeping on top of any potential problems. Keep up the good work. Take care One glass of red wine per day is good for the heart..... it's just that mine's a big heart so I need a very big glass!!!! D-| Cheers! |
