Hello and thanx for your response in advance. I'm researching everything before a potential first surgery. Question: Do you order your supplies on-line and if so what are the websites. What is the best system to purchase and what all do you need? I'm a PE teacher and hope I can still play games with my students. Is their products to secure the bag for this type of activity?

I order online with www.edgepark.com , this was originally set up for me through my ostomy nurse and insurance at the hospital and now I can change what I receive through an online account and my supplies get delivered monthly(or you can order more and have it delivered less often).

Before have an ostomy you will consult with an ostomy nurse who will educate you on the products. You will get some samples of different companies and types and then it's trial and error for what works for you. I use hollister new image two piece flextend...these names will make sense once you see the products and become familiar with their parts.

I get wafers and bags, adhesive remover for when I change my appliance, stoma powder to use if my skin gets raw, barrier spray/wipes to seal the skin under the appliance. Some people use less products and some more. A search in the ostomy thread should turn up many different people's ostomy routines.

You can be very active with an ostomy and they have belts to keep the bag secured, but this is not necessary if you wear a snug undergarment. I myself wear mens briefs under my shorts when I workout because they support the bag well during activity.

i by mine through byrum healthcare since this is who my insurance works with i guess. you may have one chosen for you by your insurance and you can order online if you like. you can also get hooked up quite well by requested samples from all the major companies. ive got like 7-8 bags just from samples. they often give you straps to hold the back on firmer if you prefer.
