Am I going mad? Or do other stoma Ileostomy wearers have a similar problem? Sometimes does it feel as if the discharge from your stoma is running down your side even though you have no bag leak! Sometimes it is fine but every now and again I get these strange sensations. If I’m out and I get these sensations it a case off straight to the bath room to do a leak checks. This doesn’t do much for my confidence as I’m totally convinced I’m leaking even thought I’m not.

How long have you had your ostomy? I know I had that feeling for awhile. It started a few months after my surgery and lasted for a couple of months. I know I was constantly checking for leaks. People probably thought I was weird always touching my stomach area. Now if I am driving and smell something bad I still check to see if it is me. I have had my ostomy for 2yrs 2wks and 2 days.

I'm new to my ostomy but I get the same sensation from time to time. I never felt that way though until after I had my first leak so I chalk it up to paranoia!

Thanks for your comments glad i'm not the only one. Ive had my bag 6 months and hope to have it reversed very soon. when the NHS can get me in! which cant come soon enough. I too always assume it me if I am suddenly hit with a smell. I was in a meeting at work today and I had that leaking feeling. then I trying to smell if it is a real leak and looking at the people near me to see if they can smell any thing! Thankfully it was my own paranoia!

I get that sensation, usually when my bag if full of air and I attribute it to the wafer pulling off just a little bit. It usually happens after I have had the wafer on for a couple days.
