My son has a loop ileo which is being more problematic than the temp end ileo. Sooooooooooo I'm searching for alternatives. We just tried a Hollister convex 2 days ago. ET nurse comes back out tomorrow. Thoughts?

My daughters has only had a loop and seems to have had very little problems. She has tried lots of stuff and the one she likes best is convatec durahesive. The number on the box is 413155. She uses it with an opaque pouch (413334) with velcro. She rarely uses powder and only sometimes uses the paste. Convatec will send you free samples.

Thanks, Mila for the info. I'll look in my Edgepark catalog. How many wear days does she get ...usually?

I don't think she changes too often. She changes the wafer twice a week or even less. Once every 5 days, and changes the pouch only every 3 days.

I use Convatec's moldable convex wafers. They are durahesive too and really do mold to every contour. No need for pastes or seals with them either. I change my wafer every 4-5 days and my bag every day after my shower.

Hope you find something that suits your son's ostomy soon.

Take care

There are different ConvaTec Durahesive products.
Shell what's the number of the wafer
you use? I'm confused as to what you are calling
'moldable'..I'm using the Natura Sur-fit Durahesive with Convex-It, pre-cut..#413182 wafer with convexity..wondering if it's the same as the moldable?

Hi Char,

The order numbers are different here in the UK so I've looked them up on Convatec's US website. Here's a link:

Hope this helps.

Take care. Smiler

Thanks for the info, Ladies. Do you find that a two piece system works better as far as increased wear time/decreased lifting of the wafer?

I think the two piece system does work better as far as wear time..and you can change the bag without changing the wafer..Like your son, I have the loop ileo also, and I use the 2 piece. Try the Natura Sur-fit Durahesive with Convex-It, pre-cut wafer..I posted the # above..ask the ET nurse and see what she thinks..good luck.. Smiler

Shell.....I get the site ok, but still can't figure out which ones you are using..it just takes me to the Convatec site! That's ok..
thanks anyhow!

Char, the link should take you to their moldable wafer page. I've checked it and it seems to be working ok.

Good luck Smiler
