I call my stoma "Stimpy" when I had gone in to the hospital to have my J-pouch taken down and a permanent illiostomy, my husband and I said our goodbyes before the surgery, we said here comes the birth of "Stimpy" and I called to my husband ok "Ren" lol.

Friends:

I really wanted to name my stoma "Sasha Fierce," but it didn't stick. I just refer to it as "Stomer." I picture some old geezer farmer or something when I say it, maybe because it sounds like "Homer."

My takedown is in July and while Stomer has helped me stay alive, I can't say I'll really *miss* 'im...

Best,
Mary & Stomer

My first stoma was called "My Little Friend" of course with Scarface's Tony Montana's cuban accent.

This one I have not named. I don't know...it's like I don't want to give it that much acknowledgment. It's just there and it's not a big deal, and naming would make it too real for me.

Although today it was very angry...I hope it's not because it wants a name! Smiler

Mine is very classy but appropriate. It's Miss Farty. My surgeon couldn't stop laughing when he heard it. Apparently I was the first of his patient's to name their stoma or maybe the first to tell him.

Mine is Q. I teach kindergarten and once had a student whose name started with Q. I will not disclose his actual name to protect the "innocent." You never knew what Q would do. He was smart, could control his behavior, but when you turned your back for one second, he would be eating glue or climbing a high pole. I was a nervous wreck that year.

So little Q, my stoma, is kind of the same. I'm pretty sure that little Q knows exactly what it's doing when it has been calm for an hour, then suddenly erupts as I am trying to change the bag. Sometimes I call little Q "f#@*ing Q". Just depends on his mood and mine Big Grin

Eddie... I have no idea why it was suggested by the first person who ever suggested naming it, and I just appreciated her sense of humor and acceptance... getting it was so traumatic (I only had 7 days notice, and a 3 week old at home) and the nursing staff at my hospital always seemed grossed out by it (except the WOC nurse) which did not help my mental state.. so when my friend suggested I call it Eddie, it stuck.
