Who else has named their friend???
My stoma's name is Rover cause the first time it farted, it sounded like a dog barking. And when we are out in public, we use special codes like "Do you need to take Rover for a walk" meaning "do you need to empty your bag" Being 16, I'm very selfconsous of my body and using codes and people being confused is alot better than my mom asking if I need to empty my poop bag and everyone hearing! I want to know what other people named their little buddys!! Diagnosed UC: 2002 (10 years old) First Surgery: Proto- Colectomy with temp end ileo, October 12 2008 Second Surgery: J-pouch creation with temp loop ileo January 25, 2009 Third Surgery: Take down March 26, 2009 |

Kermit!!!
Because it sounded like a tiny frog ribbiting when I first got it. Good luck all. a bit of humor goes a long way. even if it's pretty lame humor. Lani |

Mine's called Wee Willie because that is exactly what he looks like. He very nearly got called Big Willie but thankfully shrank down to size over a few months.
Oh and my Mum still asks if I need to empty my bag very loudly and in public, and I'm 52! Guess that's what mum's do! One glass of red wine per day is good for the heart..... it's just that mine's a big heart so I need a very big glass!!!! D-| Cheers! |

I was going to name my stoma something really cool, my family was giving me suggestions etc, but then I had so much trouble with it the first month it ended up being called "Little A", short for "Little A**" as it was just that a pain in the a**. LOL
At home he is called by his full name if not cooperating, but in public he is always just Little A This message has been edited. Last edited by: rook3034, |

During my stoma days, mine was known as "Squirt". When my wound care nurses first came in to teach me to change the bag and wafer, everytime they touched the skin around the stoma, it would squirt straight up like a water fountain, so they named "her" for me.
I was walking through the hospital the other day on my way to get my labs done, and one of the nurses came up to me ad said "Hey D, How ya doin'? I sure do miss Squirt". Rook3034,
No....actually it was hysterical at the time.... I have a very odd sense of humor, which is most of the reason I haven't managed to bury myself into the ground with depression or madness. The more they touched it, the more it squirted, which made me laugh, and the more I laughed, the more it squirted, which made me laugh harder, which made it... It was a good thing that I had a private room - Diane Leigh 36 - female UC w/ multiple complications, meds J-Pouch August 2008, failed due to surgical error Perm Ilio October 2009 Loving my life!! Diane,
You must have had some great nurses too - I had a few I think if that happened and I laughed they would have been less than happy!!! Glad you could find humor in it and keep your sense of humor! Becky |

I LOVED my nurses. I am very fortunate to have had (and still have) such a great team of people on my side... from my original Nurse Practitioner to my Wound Care team, to my GI and my Surgeon. I even love thier staff. They are so supportive, I still keep in touch with most of them.

Mine is Beaker. After the character on the Muppet Show, that's what it reminded me of the first time it got talkative!
