Over the past week I've noticed a red rash developing just above where my bag is located. The bad doesn't directly touch the area. Under the wafer there isn't a rash. It's getting worse and it's pretty itchy. I can't imagine what else would cause this except for the bag. Any ideas? What can I do to treat this? I finally got my system down so I hate to change products. I have to go out of town for a few weeks due to my Father's passing this past weekend and I don't want this to become a problem while I'm traveling.
Thanks for any input! KC |

KC, I'm sorrry for the loss of your father. I don't know what's causing your rash. Maybe some OTC hydrocortisone cream would clear it up.

Hi KC.
I'm so sorry to hear about your father. If the rash is recent it could be stress related. It could also be a fungal infection. If the rash isn't actually under your wafer then there should be no need to change the system you use now. You can cover all bases by getting some Canastan HC (anti fungal with hydrocortisone) which will tackle both the itch and the possible cause of the rash. Good luck and condolences to you and your family. Take care One glass of red wine per day is good for the heart..... it's just that mine's a big heart so I need a very big glass!!!! D-| Cheers! |

It is here in the UK but not sure about in the States.
Perhaps you can get your doctor to write up a prescription if it's not? Good luck and take care. One glass of red wine per day is good for the heart..... it's just that mine's a big heart so I need a very big glass!!!! D-| Cheers! |

Hi KC...I too am so sorry to hear about your loss. You have been through so much in the last few months...this is such a horrible thing for you to have to suffer through.
You can get a anti-fungal cream (even if it says that it's for athlete's foot it will work) or a powder to put on it. Prescription Nystatin (powder) always worked for my yeast infections. You can always call your stoma or surgical nurse and ask her. She will probably be able to precribe something for you. I hope this clears up quickly...again, I'm so sorry for your loss. Try putting bepto bismol on the rash, letting it dry and then lightly brush the powdery film left on your skin off. This can work for rashes and irritation under the waffer as well because you brush the film off your skin so the waffer will still stick. Hope this helps. So sorry for you loss as if you need anything else going on right now. Take care -Katty
