i had my colon out Feb 20th and now have an ostomy.my surgeon told me i could do everything i did before with the exception of skydiving (why would i want to jump out of a plane ?!) and scuba diving (which sucks, because i do like to dive). too much pressure on the bag. while i have not yet been swimming, i have been in the hot tub on a regular basis, eases my aching muscles. i find that i have not lost any "stickiness" of the wafer. convatec make a small bag that can be used for such activities, less noticeable and more comfortable under my swimsuit. fiona j.
hey Scott, no, i do not wear my belt, actually it's the only time i take it off. of course, being a girl and all.....i wear a one piece which keeps everything in place. i normally stay in 20-30 mins, depending on how cold it is outside.glad i didn't have to give the hot tub up
Thanks Fiona, I've taken a bath once since I've had my end ileo and I didn't feel comfortable. I know it's just a mental thing that I'll eventually get over. But it helps to hear other people talk about it.
Thanks Scott

I definitely don't do anything different in my home bath tub...no belt, no special prep and I stay in as long as I can, often filling the tub again - I have a 2 year old and a bath is a rare luxury so I really indulge when I can.
As for hot tubs, the only thing I sometimes do is wear a closed end bag, but otherwise, I just enjoy relaxing. I generally stay in about 20-30 minutes at a time.
