I had a fabulous egg/potato salad over the weekend. I liked it, but it didn't like me! I now have a ton of gas going into my bag. The good news is that I have no pain from this gas. If I still had my j-pouch I would be doubled over in pain. The bad news is that the gas blew a leak in my wafer at 3am this morning. I got up, found my last wafer, did the change, cleaned up the sheets and went back to bed. 5am...another leak!

I was saying some not very nice words.

Luckily...I remembered my emergancy pak in my car. Dick went out and found it for me at 5am. Got cleaned up, changed the wafer, cleaned up the bed again. This time I used a barrier wipe the ostomy nurse gave me last Thursday at my appointment. Hopefully this one will hold. I guess I'll have to make a trip to the medical supply store today.

UNBELIEVABLE...I just felt that warm feeling around my bag and thought I sprung another leak. That would be the 3rd leak in 6 hours! Then I looked down and realized the coffee cup, I was balancing between my robe and my laptop, tipped over and the warm feeling was coffee.

Whew!

Cataja-
Your not alone- I was changing a wafer at 1:30am Sunday morning! I had just changed it on Saturday morning-I was getting ready to go to bed and my wafer started itching....which sometimes that happens to me on the first day of a change...think it may be the stomahesive paste I use..but it usually goes away after a few hours..
Anyhow I looked down and saw that I was leaking under the wafer-I couldn't figure out why it would do that except that maybe I didn't have enough paste on the wafer to form a good seal...But after reading your post-I'm think it could have been 'gas' because the bag was getting quite bloated... Eeker
I used some of those not very nice words too!
After 9 month of not having a leak, I'm now leary about it happening again! But that's a small price to pay to be able to eat and sleep and get out of the house!
Glad you are feeling so much better! Enjoy eating again-
