Just want to add that I agree with 6 Million that the pink Hy-Tape is really effective at holding the wafer extra snug against the body. And I used to use it. But, like JasonPa, I developed a reaction to it and it gives me a rash. Darn it! The adhesive on it is really good, kind of like the adhesive on a Convatec wafer.

Hi, my name Karen
I have three of these belts now, and wear them all of the time (night & day). They are so easy to wash and dry quickly so I never have to worry about having a clean one. They are very comfortable and I now have this feeling of security that I never expected possible after the last 5 1/2 years of fear of someone finding out that I have this problem. Going to public washrooms was an anxiety filled experience as the plastic pouch always makes a noise no matter what you do, but with this belt, the pouch is always enclosed and the problem is gone. I am very pleased with the Protective Ostomy Belt and would highly recommend it. Thank-you so very much. Karen Vancouver Canada |

Simply ME,
If you don't have insurance you can't get it so cheap, but I would try calling Byram Healthcare, as they sell it for $30.63 and not $50. Another option would be to ask someone for theirs when they have takedown. I would gladly send you ours, but my daughter won't be having takedown until after Thanksgiving (the end of November, hopefully). Byram's phone number is 1 877 902 9726. Not sure if they ship to Egypt, but it's worth a try. |

Karen,
Nobody here is promoting a product for any company, for any gain, other than knowing someone out there got some help or relief from personal experiences. These are personal stories of how someone felt using a product and sharing those stories so others can make an educated conclusion as what would be good for them. |

I got my Phoenix belt in the mail the other day and tried it when I changed my appliance yesterday (to put it sideways) and I'm not sure I like it. Granted, I only wore it for five minutes before deciding to change back to the old way so I didn't give it a fair shot, but it just felt weird. I usually wear boy shorts underwear and they keep my bag snug to my belly. I was really excited about getting the belt because I was hoping it would allow me to wear some of my old pants.
I guess I should just give it more time. For those of you who wear it, do you wear it 24/7? Or do you change the direction of your bag at night to hang down and back to sideways in the morning? If you wear it all night, do you have to only sleep on the side that allows it to hang down? Forgive me if these are stupid questions but I'm just confused and afraid of changing the direction of the bag with my 2-piece Convatec system because won't it get the tupperwear snap part really messy when you take it off and move it? THANKS!! Erin I live for my son! Step One: April 8th, 2005 Step Two: June 15th, 2005 Temp loop ileo again: August 15th, 2007 - due to unknown pouch pain. |

Hi Erin -
I wore my belt 24/7; and, the bag shouldn't "move" no matter what side you sleep on; yes, the stuff in the bag will move, but the bag itself should stay put. For me, I wore my bag across my belly button, but you can also wear it going across your right hand side. I chose across the belly button because if the bag was really full, at worst, I would look like I had a buldge in my stomach, and not a huge lump on my side. As for sleeping, I would sleep on both sides, however, if the bag was full, one side was definitely more comfortable than the other. I would just usually get up and empty the bag - but then again, I was (and still am, even though I've had takedown) a 2 to 3 times a night go-to-the-bathroom girl. Give it a try again - it takes some getting used to, but for me, I found it so freeing. Lisa |
