Hi -

For the 7 months that I had my stoma, I wore the second one on your list (however, I ordered mine through Byram directly and not that site.)

I LOVED it. LOVED it. I had avoided having surgery due to the temp. ostomy, but with that belt, it was no big deal at all. No one knew a thing about it and I could wear whatever clothing I wanted, because at worst, it looked like I just had an ace bandage wrapped around my waist.

Emptying was no problem - even when sideways, the bag empties just as easily. And, for me, I liked the feeling of everything being distributed across my stomach, rather than down my leg. None of the "pulling" sensation.

I believe Indy_Dave and Mark&Megan (on this site) use this as well. Hopefully they'll chime in with their experiences, as I don't believe many others have tried this product.

But, here's a "rave" from me!

Good luck,
Lisa

Hi

I am VERY active in sports, working out and coaching my son's teams, I have been wearing the white thin belt that clips on to the flange or pouch (most providers-Convatec, Hollister, Coloplast, etc)),
I just tried the Phoenix rig (i think 2nd link of yours above) last night when coaching football.
It is like wearing a large Ace bandage for a pulled back muscle. You get a little bulge if the pouch is 1/3-1/2 full but have increased confidence that 'no one can tell'

Early in my test of it, but positive from me so far and Positive from my wife!

Good luck
E

I use the Phoenix belt and love it. I have a high stoma and need support so I don't get the pull from a full pouch. Plus I wear the pouch outside my shorts and pants and the belts works great...just cover with my shirt.
as for cost, most people's insurance get a discounted price from Byram and their insurance pays for most of the rest. I order through Byram and my insurance pays 90% so I ended up paying like 4 bucks for each belt instead of the 50 when you buy direct. I just ordered a second one. Order numbers are like PS100 for small, PS200 for med and PS300 for lg. The belt makes having an ostomy a lot easier to handle...now if someone can invent a cool way to empty and clean the end of the pouch then life would be sweet Wink
hope this helps
give Lisa credit for hooking us up with this cool belt

I use one of the larger pouches from Hollister and it is easy to empty sitting down. Just angle it downwards and it reaches to empty in the bowl Cool. That pouch I use holds quite a bit of poop sideways as well without that "pulling" feeling you get when it just hangs there vertically...
A couple of years ago I never would have thought I would talking about poop so much with people on the net...isn't life grand Razzer

I've never used the belts you've listed, but I've always used the stretchy white belts that Hollister makes and I love them. The belt just attaches to the little plastic loops on either side of the bag (two-piece system), wraps around my backside, and it keeps the bag wonderfully snug against my body, reducing the pull on the bag and on the wafer. I definitely recommend them.

There is no direct link nor is it in the catalog. The order numbers are PS100 for sm. PS200 for med. and PS300 for large. The first time I tried to order it the person didn't know what I was talking about. Then I emailed the Phoenix company to get the order numbers for Byram. With my ins. the belt cost me like 4 bucks and some change. Get the right size for you from the info on the Pheonix website.
Hope this helps

I almost never wear a belt. I found that if I use Hy-Tape to frame my wafer it provides enough support for me. Now with that said, the times I wear a belt is when I need to conceal the "bulge" it creates. I've been using the Hollister thin belts that Rudolph mentioned, but they get uncomfortable after a while. So this Phoenix belt looks interesting. For those of you who have used it, does it get hot underneath? Like CoachE I'm very active, working out, yard work, chasing my kids, etc... It looks like it could get a little steamy underneath when you start to sweat.

I am the opposite of 6million ( I hope that is a good thing LOL ) I wear the thing belt all the time and even sleep with it. I take it off when I shower, however if I go in the hottub or if I swim I wear it. I dont use hype tape anymore (sometimes gives me raised bumps) and I do everything and the belt seems to really help - thats me and the thin belt. When I play ice hockey, I wear a body belt where it makes me put my bag in sideways and then there is a piece that flaps over the whole bag and keeps it in place. This all being said, I like the thin belt cause I am not a person when the bag is half full that I go empty it ... I usually dont pay attention and when I end up empting it its 3/4 or more full so the belt really helps out.

As for a buldge or knowing its there.. no way anyone can see it even in a swim suit .. though everyone knows I have it and I dont care Smiler

Hey 6M$S -

To address your question about it being "hot" - yes, it can get a little steamy, but for me, it only happened when I was working out. So, I had one belt to work out in, another for everyday wear. I would wash them both about once a week, and had a spare on hand (so, a total of three belts). Just being out and about doing regular activities, never made me hot - I even laid outside in 85 degree weather with it on and was fine. But, working out was another story.

Give it a try - I have my old belts that I could send you, but I'm guessing that you might be a bit bigger than me. Unless you are under 130 pounds, mine might be a bit snug. Smiler

Hi,

My daughter has the phoenix ostomy belt and she wears it 24/7. When emptying she is on her knees facing the bowl and has no problem. This belt has worked GREAT for her. For a 16 year old girl that likes to wear short shorts or skirts this belt is perfect. She has 2 and maybe I'll order a 3rd just in case. We get ours from Byram, and since I met my deductible they cost me $0. Before I met my deductible they cost $6 as Byram sells them for $30.63 and if you get it from the company they cost $50 plus shipping. At Byram if you spend $50 the shipping is free. Now lets be realistic guys, when is the order less than $50?
