I went to the convatec web site and saw where they have something called moldable technology, where the wafer molds around the stoma and gives a better fit. Anyone tried this?

Hi Paul,

Yes I use the moldable wafers and think they are the best thing since sliced bread! They really are the only wafer that does what it says on the box (for me anyway) and since I've been using them (over 3 years now) I haven't had a single leak (touch wood).

Order some samples and try them for yourself. Smiler

Good luck. Smiler

The problem for me with the moldable wafers is that the smallest size they make starts at 7/8". Well, that's my stoma size. So I have nothing to mold. Just taking the wafer out of the box the opening fits my stoma. So, they really aren't much of a help for me. Might not be an option if you have a tiny stoma like me.

I'm at 1", soon to be 7/8" and I will probably still use the moldable. It's the turtlenecking that I really like--right up against the stoma. Are there other pre-cut flanges out there that do it this well?

Wee Willie is the same size at his base as the smallest moldable wafers so I don't actually do any molding myself, but as Caty pointed out the turtlenecking makes sure it's a really snug fit. I get 4-5 days out of my wafers and could probably go longer but prefer not to.

I found that both the pre-cut and ones that you cut yourself have too sharp and edge and damaged Wee Willie at the base because of the way he points down. These are so much kinder to him. Smiler

I agree with Shell. The edges can be very sharp on other pre-cut or scissor cut flanges. There's just something nice about the moldables, and I'm so happy Convatec came up with them. They're a pretty new item I think.
