Curios, anyone gone into a sauna or steam room with an ostomy? http://www.spillingmyguts.net http://online.ccfa.org/site/TR...=personal&fr_id=3179 http://www.facebook.com/pages/...248335972119?sk=wall Diagnosed with UC - 10/2003 J-pouch created - 06/23/09 Takedown - 09/15/2009 Diagnosed with chronic pouchitis - 8/2011 Perm ileostomy - 12/13/2011

When I had my loop ileo I took a sauna fairly regularly. Never had a problem but dehydration could be an issue so drink plenty before and while your in the sauna and dont over do it. Did not try a steam.

I took and still take them all of the time...love the heat in the winter (less so in the summer)..drink tons before going in (same for before taking a hot bath or shower) and I make a homemade lemonaide with mint for afterwards...hydrates quite well a replenishes the electorlites..if you feel dizzy or nauseous then get out or splash cold water on your feet and face. Sharon It could be worse...oh, wait..it already has been! then I guess it can only get better from here....

Ya I take sauna regularly. After taking sauna you feel completely relaxed and calm.I enjoy taking it.Mostly I prefer taking sauna when I feel more stressed.

I'm wondering though, do you have to change your bag immediately after the sauna because of all the sweat? I assume output slows to a standstill in the sauna and that the bag is emptied just prior. http://www.spillingmyguts.net http://online.ccfa.org/site/TR...=personal&fr_id=3179 http://www.facebook.com/pages/...248335972119?sk=wall Diagnosed with UC - 10/2003 J-pouch created - 06/23/09 Takedown - 09/15/2009 Diagnosed with chronic pouchitis - 8/2011 Perm ileostomy - 12/13/2011

I did not have to change the bag after a sauna. Not sure why but it didn't seem to affect the seal. I typically do a cold shower after leaving the sauna. Really had no problems with it. The only really bad failure I had with the bag was bass fishing in a boat I think the continual casting movement of the arm may have broken the seal, it was also a hot day.
