Hello. I have a food question! I've had my loop ileo for about 10 days now and I'm just wondering how soon is too soon for certain foods. On about day 5 I ate a banana which blocked me up (very little output) for about 12 hrs, and then suddenly I had 400 mL in my bag in about 2 hrs, I think the banana thickened things up way too much. So now i'm wary about food which people say are used to thicken output - ie. applesauce, bananas, oatmeal, etc. I'm wondering how long I should wait before trying these sorts of foods, are my intestines still a bit swollen perhaps and finding it hard to push things along? I've mostly been eating soup and cereal because I'm a bit apprehensive about possibly clogging myself up with too much food. Any advice is appreciated Smiler

I'll walk this winding road into the great unknown.

Hmmm... I guess you need the kind of foods I can't eat. Razzer

I don't want to give you any wrong advice, but try things with fiber that will help you to go, like digestible vegies. Take baby steps though, and see how one meal goes, then if it goes good, try another similar, ect.

Soup and noodles would be good, cereal, maybe even a smoothie or ice cream cone.

Hope this helped. Razzer

My doc had me eating everything from day 1. I was 50 lbs underweight.
It takes a little while to get the hang of it. I use immodium and healthy organic pop tarts to slow things down and I use caffiene free diet coke to speed things along. If I eat something I want to get rid of I skip an immodium ( I only take 2 a day - 1 in A.M and one around 6 or 7 pm. I avoid small things like seeds, nuts, raisins so no blockages...mushrooms come out as they go in so I avoid them for now. Pickle relish makes for interesting colors Eeker I also take a couple of marshmallows before changing my wafer - they really clog you up good so go easy on them!
My problem was that I wanted all the foods I could not eat for years due to my UC so I had a hard time deciding what to eat next. My first supermarket trip was like 2 hours because I was so excited to eat some real good food for a change Cool
Hope some of this helps
