Holly - that is so cool! Suzan had a similar idea once. I wonder if it would work with a bag worn sideways? Can you use this with an existing system? I use Covatec's moldable system so not sure how or if this would work with that. I might give them a call. Thanks for the link!

Thanks Holly. It worked fine this time round. Smiler

I still think it's quicker and less mess/trouble to just pour some water into the tail of my bag and swish! At least my system is portable. Smiler

Thanks for sharing.

Shell,
I was thinking the same thing. I used to drink a water bottle at lunch then use it to swish the bag later - very portable.
Plus, when you swish with cold water you can kinda "feel" if the wafer is sealed good. If the cold water hits the skin around the wafer it was a sign for me to change the wafer soon so not get a rash.

David, that is exactly what I do. I have a very small water bottle that I carry in my handbag and just fill up at the sink before going into the cubicle when I'm out. If I'm over in France where there aren't always sinks with the toilets (some of them are still just holes in the ground) then I make sure I fill up my bottle before I leave the hotel just in case. I can then save some of the water to wash my hands afterwards. Truly a protable system. Smiler

I sent the company an email Shell. I carry that small bottle on the go as well but this looks nice to me. Matter of fact Suzan and I have discussed a very similar design only our was more of a stand up urinal type design but to empty ostomy bags standing up. I will let you know what I hear back from the company.

Tricia, what I'm interested to find out is how you attach it to your existing bag? It looks a bit technical to me not to mention a lot of fussing about and time consuming. I mean it looks liek you would ahve to put at least one hole into the top of the bag to insert the device but how watertight would that be? Unless of course you have to buy their own modified ostomy system.

It certainly sounds interesting.

When I still had my bag, I always took two drum sticks (the kind you play drums with, not the kind from chickens). I'd clamp the sticks on either side of the bag and, pressing the bag between the sticks, I'd roll the junk out into the toilet.
The bag was always really empty after that. Out in public, I had two dowels I bought at an art supply store.
This really worked for me, always made the bag seem clean and empty. Hope it helps.

Hey Jeffrey - that made me think of those chopsticks they make for children. They're connected at one end so you'd only have to clamp down on one side. Of course, being children's chopsticks, they may be too short - but I've seen some that are pretty long.

This is why I always used closed end bags. I would pop off the old, pop on the new. Then clean the mess.At home they could be washed out with warm soapy water and hung in the shower to dry and reuse a few times, if out I emptied the contents and put the bag in a baggie, sealed it and threw it away.So much easier than unrolling, emptying while on the loo and wiping the tail and cleaning it with water and rolling it and clipping it.

I got an email from the owner and it looks like you have to use their ostomy system. It is a one piece bag. I was hoping it might be a bag that would fit an existing Convatec system. The system is also designed to work with a bag hanging down and not sideways. Definitely not for someone who wants options.
