What was the young doctor’s name? Was it Dr. Rapp or something like that?

Danny,

David,

Pixie,

How wonderful it is to have good news to spread! It is so easy for us to get on here and talk about problems, issues, and rough times. As a new poucher 7.23.07,8.29.07TD it is important to hear the postive stories before going in. I spent three weeks before surgery reading and learning all I could good and bad. Hearing great news is very uplifting and gives us a sense of yes it can be rough, but it also can and will work great and be a positve outcome.

And yes I firmly believe that our God answers prayers and we can claim healing and victory through all of this.
I claim my healing from God to be that I am cancer free!!! PRAISE are awsome GOD!!!

Hi Dave...was great to see the post from you . Danny and I have been wondering all day how it went for you. Glad all is well..other than the young doc. Did you get to go on the 5th floor? Hope so . The nurses were awesome up there this time.

Danny is still in quite a bit of discomfort right now and is still taking pain meds which is fine as long as he needs them.

I am sure Danny will be on later to see how you are doing.

"And yes I firmly believe that our God answers prayers and we can claim healing and victory through all of this.!"
I second that brother!!!
Heather, Tad, Danny
I am on the 6th floor. It is awesome up here, harwood floors, huge suite bathrooms, rooms are like a hotel. Best part is very few patients. The section is very quiet. I got lots of sleep last night.
Had a great night. On regular food and will follow advice from the menu choice posts...I ordered a muffin and a bagel - not much appetite so food isn't that big of a deal. I have a single suture on the inside that squeezed the stoma hole almost closed, so I have no sutures.
I will get out tommorow AM if I can poop Wink
Thank you for everybody's tips and advice...it has made my visit much easier.

David,
Was wondering all day & night how things went! I had a catherter in me from surgery and removed it later monday evening at midnite. Then I couldn't pee and knew I had to. I was scared because I have an enlarged prostrate & he dialates you in surgery which enflames prostrate more. I drank a hole pot of coffee & a couple pictures of water & was almost running the halls & pushing with all my might and it was almost but not quite there. Finally got it but it was like it was plugged up. About the 4th time it was effortless. Scared me because I've had bladder cancer so any abnormalty sounds alarms & since I've been in & out of surgery I missed my yearly scope to see if cancer returned! My next battle was gas so I drank about 10 apple juices & ran the halls & sat on the pot & the 4th of July started! I was estatically happy! Home is harder than hospital by far, butt burn ,urgencies & pain in getting up & down is tough, plus that ugly open hole! But it is getting better & love not having the bag!! So glad all is well for you! Sorry I missed you! Danny

Dave..When I had to take Danny back to IU after his first surgery, he was readmitted to the 6th floor. We loved those rooms too. Nice luxury suites for sure. HUGE and big bathrooms... Glad you had a nice room and floor. 4th floor is chaotic. Hope you get things moving so you can go home. Danny did not have alot of pain in the hosp....but has more now that he is home and not on the morphine pump. Also a large..what we call bullet hole I have to pack with saline gauze twice a day and cover. Kinda grossed me out the first time I did it. But I am used to it now.
Let us know when you go back to see Dr. R..maybe it will be the same day we go..Nov. 30.

Heather,
I am going home in the AM...had 2 poops! They seem to be a little like the stuff I had with the UC(dark and sinks to bottom) but have some solid to it...Hadn't seen this for a couple of years. Big Grin
Switched from morphine to norco a couple of hours ago. Enjoying watching the race with both in my system!
Too bad we didn't hook up in the hospital.

Dave..woo hoo on the poop. Good for you. Danny had a few really small sorta pasty poos...but now they are like you said and he said..like when he had UC and it is kinda sandy and dark and sinks to the bottom...he was wondering if that was how it was supposed to look.

So glad you get to go home. Sorry Danny and I could not meet you but he will be seeing Dr. Robb now for followups. He asked if Dr. Helper was who he would still be seeing and he said no you don't need Dr. Helper anymore for this..just me. So..I assume he will have yearly checkups or something.

Good luck and take it easy when you get home. Oh..and Danny had carpet in his room on the 6th floor...

Heather,
The place I am in had carpet until recently. I was walking the halls and noticed the carpet was down a bit. It is too quiet around here...I am the only patient I have seen walking the halls, day or night and there is no real intercom communication - maybe once every couple of hours.
Spooky....Halloween was last week Eeker
